DriveSmart 65 Voice Command Menu

My DriveSmart 65 does not show a voice command menu. My DriveSmart 55 does show a voice command menu. Is there a option to turn the voice command menu on/off?

I learned something new

I learned something new. I have recorded the voice commands, but seldom used them. I found that the DriveSmart 65 didn't always respond and I assumed that maybe being too close to the windshield, my voice, or any number of things were the real problem.

I'm going to reacord my own (and maybe simpler) phrases to activate functions.

Speaking of voice commands

A fire engine overtook me the other day.. which prompted my Garmin to set a route home. Often enough my Apple music will set off the Garmin questionnaire.. but this time, straight to a route.

Just to clarify, the recording of voice commands and voice training only applies if the DriveSmart 65 has Amazon Alexa included. Versions without Alexa, like mine, do not require voice training and will work with any voice. However, two disadvantages of the version without Alexa is external noises can occasionally trigger the voice command system, and if you're playing music at all the voice commands won't be recognized.

rerecording Didn't help

I tried rerecording my voice commands. I do not have Alexa

I found that voice commands were basically useless for anything complex. As a result I have installed a new voice command feature, but unfortunately, it must be physically installed in the car, anytime I want to use it.

It's called the "Wife Voice Command System", which has been renamed the "Wife Voice Request System", to maintain marital harmony.

It works by requesting step by step key strokes from my wife and does require a fair amount of patience at times, but it does usually work without me making a manual override, by pulling to the side of the road. (Fear Not. Manual Override does not mean pulling to the side of the road, opening her door and asking her to get out.)

That system needs to be rebooted every-now-and-then when the volume control does not work and it keeps getting louder and louder.
