Garmin Service

Garmin Service
The serial number on my BC 40 backup camera indicates that it was manufactured in 2018. It has served very well with a DriveSmart 65 and fantastically with the large screen on a DriveSmart 86. Just recently the display became subject to numerus display malfunctions that creates dangerous situations because they happen suddenly and without notice. The BC 40 is such a valuable tool that I will not be without a fully functional one if possible. I decided to call Garmin and am amazed about what followed.

1 The prerecorded messages led me to identify my product.

2.That prerecorded message advised that all service specialists were busy, but I could get a call back between 4 to 6 minutes. Five minutes later I got the call from the service specialists.

3. I explained the problem to the specialists and after we understood each other she looked up how she could help me.

4. I paid $149.0 for the unit, and the current list price is $179.00. Garmin will ship me a new BC 40 Camera and charge me $179 less a discount when I return the old unit. My total cost for a new unit will be $89.00 with a new warranty.

5. I had to complete an email form that Garmin sent me to verify all on the order.
6. Five minutes after returning the email form to Garmin they sent me an email verifying the order that cost me $89.00, and another email with a postage free mailing label to return th old unit.

In my experience there's nothing to compare to Garmin Service

very fair

That is a very fair thing for Garmin to do. I don't think other manufacturers would do that.

Not only was it exceptional

Not only was it exceptional service, but the replacement unit has already been shipped the same day of my original call. been shipped.

We really need to fully support such a company with such superior products and un heard of service.

Good to know

Hopefully mine doesn't die, it's been good so far.

Good to Hear

One of my BC40's began acting up recently with similar erratic behavior. I was going to replace it with the newer BC50 but based on your service experience, I may rethink that purchase.

Thanks for sharing!

Nice

Complaints dominate in forums, nice to get a positive one. Thanks

It seems that Garmin uses

It seems that Garmin uses the seral umber of an item to determines what to do about a problem.

Make sure you have that number when you contact Garmin. The number on the BC 40 is on the back of the camera and about the size of a Nat's sneeze so get it before you call.

Similar Response With FitBit Issue

My daughter gave me an older model FitBit Watch. I grew to like it, but suddenly the screen went blank. FitBit suggested a few things, but ultimately nothing worked.

Instead of a "Sorry for your luck" email, they told me that the product no longer met their warranty protocol, but they instead offered me a 35% discount on a new product.

I got a $200 FitBit watch, much better than the original for $130.

Great response.

marine handheld

Years ago I had a handheld for marine use. In addition to the marine maps I installed NA road maps and it frequently crashed and always failed while routing on roads. Since Cust. Svc couldn't solve the problem they gave me a Nuvi 40 (or 50, can't remember which).

Garmin stops Talking

I know this is an old gps, My 660 will talk when I first put in a trip but after a few miles it will quit talking and only show me banner turns. Anyone know why? I don't use it like I use to as we know where we are going, I like it for entertainment while the wife is doing other things and not talking.

Same

I had the same problem in my 885, it turned out to be a bad SD Card, changed the card it works like NEW. Garmin told me it was time for a new one its not worth fixing.

660

No app she just does a lot of what I call stitching and watches movies on her phone. The guy here on POI Factory fixed a problem for me once and he put a new map on a SD card. it. I haven't updated the map for years. Thinking about getting a new one for the 'rv. Not sure which one to get.
