Who is so happy that Monday morning is here and I'm driving in to work!
No, I'm not making it up. My on-call rotation ends 0800 EDT today.
If I were one of those job seekers who held all the cards (although that's changing with layoffs), I'd negotiate any sort of on-call out of the job duties. It's as an adult and family person, plain awful. As a single young kid, no biggie. I've been on-call since 1996. Just that since 2019 it became 24/7 and have to start a video immediately. Before it was a pager and there's time to call back, and then work independently.

with the exception of about 9 and a half years. When I was a LEO, I was on-call, and when I went into corporate security management, I was on-call. So that was an ordinary thing for me. Luckily for me, I had some very talented people working for me and the calls were few, but I always had to be available.
