Brighton, UT

I spent last weekend at a retreat in Brighton, UT.

The drive there was unpleasant.

In a two hour window I had to dodge pieces of tire tread that was flying all over the freeway four separate times. I'm assuming from the extreme temperatures. I haven't played "Pole Position" in years, but I feel like my early experience with it came in handy this weekend.
Plus I was driving Jonathan's 2002 Honda Odyssey, which is like a small tank, so I felt reasonably safe in the construction chaos around Salt Lake City.

All in all, it was definitely more of an adventure than I was planning on, but it worked out and I'm back home safe and at least as sound as I was when I left. razz

I found a beehive

I found a beehive, in the crawlspace under the house.
21 inches high, not easy to get out of
bees are grumpy little eff-ers
less grumpy than hornets, but they make up for it in numbers
the first sting really hurt
after a couple of dozen they all blended together
got out let the bees calm down, went back in from the other side and finished a bit more, got stung a few times,

Happy thoughts

  • I am not allergic to bees
  • I don't have to go back in there
  • all the vents are blocked and the fogger is killing all them stingy bastards

Travel

Got back from 3 weeks of camping. Started most days with long pants and shoes and socks, a long john top and a tee shirt. As evening came along I added a sweatshirt on top of the other clothes and we had a nice campfire to keep warm. Meanwhile it was triple digit temps at home the entire time. Now we're back home and it's hot.
