32bit micro disk

I BOUGHT A 32 BIT MICRO DISK FOR MY 55 GARMIN NAV AND JUST INSTALLED IT IN THE BACK OF MY GARMIN,THEN I NOTICED ON THE FORUM THAT IT SAID I HAVE TO FORMAT IT BEFORE I INSTALLED IT.IS THIS TRUE AND IF SO HOW DO I GO ABOUT FORMATTING IT ON A WINDOW 10 COMPUTER OR CAN I GO ABOUT DOING IT RIGHT ON MY GARMIN (OR DOES THE GARMIN DO IT AUTOMATICALLY)
I WOULD APPRECIATE IT FOR ANY FEEDBACK.

If a brand name card, it is

If a brand name card, it is very likely it is ready to go and has been formatted by the manufacturer of the card. If you install the card into a computer slot, is it visible in File Explorer? Or, connect your Gari to the PC and see if the card is visible.

If it was purchased off eBay, just for security, I’d be inclined to format it using File Explorer using the “Default” settings.

Just make sure.

That if you format it in the gram in that you get the card and NOT the main gear in files.

Micro SD Card

You are testing my memory big time, but I seem to recall doing this once. I think that the format added some files. Otherwise, no... I don't think you need to format a brand new SD card.

Format on Win 10

Insert microSD
Right click on it
Format
Enter Volume Label (optional)
Fat 32 (default)
Quick Format
Start

SD Memory Card Formatter

One way to properly format an SD card/microSD card is to use the SD Card Formatter program if one doesn't want to use Windows built in method for formatting. There are Windows and Mac versions of the SD card formatter program.
