Nuvi 2757 LM speaker not working

Hi all, I have a nüvi 2757 LM with a speaker that I believe is dead. It was working an hour ago, now it isn't. It just sorta went kaput.

Looking at online pics its

Looking at online pics its looks like it might be relatively easy to disassemble. Need a torx bit. Once apart, the speaker is probably garmin's typical 1" speaker with a 2 pin connector.

Take it apart and examine, post some pics.

Check this link...

Go to https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Garmin+Nuvi+2797LMT+Speaker++Re... and you'll find step by step instructions to remove the speaker.

Check your speaker information and see if the one at https://www.stetron.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/DB14-001-... is similar. That particular part sheet is using the image at the speaker replacement link I provided. These things aren't cheap as a single item, probably $20. They are intended to be bought several hundred at a shot and the price likely comes down to a $1/unit.

I would check the wiring carefully and if OK pursue a replacement speaker. That task may be difficult. The speaker (based on the images in the link, is made by Stetron. There are speakers on eBay but not likely the proper size. Having said that, there is a complete 2757LM unit on eBay currently at $23.50 + about $9 shipping.

Also, a unit for parts only at https://www.ebay.com/itm/302725237825?hash=item467bd48c41:g:... for $7.50 shipping included.

Mute?

Have you confirmed that the speaker volume is just not turned too low or muted?

Muting Feature

Initially I too was thinking about the mute feature being the cause of the speaker not working. but looking at member profile I see the following:

Nuvi 200, 200W, 205, 205W, 255, 255W, 260, 260W, 265WT, 350, 660, 750, 760, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1350T, 1350 LMT, 1370T, 1450T, 1450 LMT, 1490T, 52 LM, 55 LM, 2360 LMT, 2555 LMT 2577 LT, 2597 LMT, 2757 LM, Drive 61 LMT-

Having so many different models, I'm certain that would have been the first thing he checked if "muting" was the root of the issue.

Being a new member to the forum, I hope he will respond to the suggestions made to him.

Yes indeed, if I checked the profile, I wouldn't have added my comment!

So many

I was wondering if all those units were working.

And I would have told him to cannibalize on old unit!

Mute?

I was wondering that too, but no, it is not muted.

So Many

Yes, they all do work, except the 1300, 1350T, and 1450T because the solder came loose on the charge port and i am no soldering expert. Anyway, it's not that I go through units quickly, it's that I just am the guy that gets some from a place that's done with them.

I had taken it apart, it was a pain to get open, but when I finally did, I checked connections and everything looked OK.

Dead speaker

A dead speaker will still like have connections that look OK. If you want to save the unit, swap a speaker with one of the other units or purchase a unit off eBay as I suggested.
