A visit to family

A quick 48-hour turnaround last weekend from South Central PA to Greater Cleveland and back via the turnpikes. Boring, tiring, and full of fast food traps. Luckily I have adaptive cruise control in my Subaru Legacy which eases the drive somewhat.

Been busy here at work

Had to take a personal break to take care of some personal business down In Florida. Flew down on Southwest, rented a car, visited some old friends up along the east coast and flew back home. Thursday night flight down from LaGuardia to Orlando and back Monday night via Nashville. Uneventful, except for a small equipment issue on one of the flights. One of the engine igniters didn't work on the number 2 engine, so when the fuel was switched on, a HUGE plume of white-gray smoke poured out of the engine. I was on a window seat at the back of the plane. I saw that and said "This is gonna be a long night." Thankfully, the engines have two igniters and they are only needed for startup. Barring a mid flight flame out, there was no reason the flight couldn't resume. So after some paperwork we took off. The rest of the night was thankfully uneventful.

Stuph...

Nine more days until we leave on our 5-6 week camping trip. Updated a bunch of POI files. Loaded a bunch of books on my tablet and phone - some for me to read and a couple that we will take turns reading aloud around the campfire some nights. Loaded the next few Longmire audio books for listening to on the road. Today I'll start a bunch of pocket queries to load on my handheld Garmin for Geocaching. (I'll also load them onto the nüvi 760 for info but not for actual location purposes.)

Have to start organizing food soon. Heading to Costco later today to pick up glasses. My wife got new glasses and I got a new pair of prescription sunglasses that are progressive lenses and replaced the single vision (distance) lenses in another pair. Lots going on.
