pop up ads

I've noticed that whenever I come to this website, I'm getting tons of pop up ads, some related to poi-factory polls or ads . Is this my computer or is poi-factory doing this to receive commission? ive tried to adjust my laptop setting so I get no pop up ads but it' s not working. Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this. It's driving me crazy...Im getting dozens of pop ups and Im at the point of discontinuing using my surface pro......way,,,way,,,way too many pop ups!!!!!!

no advertisments

There shouldn't be any advertisements of any sort. POI Factory has been completely ad free since May of 2018.

THanks, now I need to figure

I use Chrome exclusively, have for many years, no popups here.

I use an ad blocker called AdblockPLUS but there are no ads here for it to block according the program itself. Sounds to me like you picked up a browser hijacker of some sort.

ETA: take a look here, maybe some help:

By uninstalling and reinstalling you likely reset the setting that controls pop-ups. In the future copy and paste chrome://settings/content/popups into the Chrome browser as an address and then hit the enter key. Toggle the controlling switch (should be near the top) so that the setting reads "Blocked (recommended)".

AdBlocker Ultimate claimed to to have blocked 1 ad

AdBlocker Ultimate running under Ubuntu and Firefox claimed to have blocked 1 ad, but when turned off I didn't see the ad.

On an associated but different topic DuckDuckGo Privacy essentials blocked 1 tracker (google-analytics.com) and Privacy Badger blocked 2 (google-analytics.com and fonts.gstatic.com).

I get no ads here either.

I get no ads here either. There's a google analytics tracker but that's about it.

I stopped using adblock plus years ago. It became quite resource heavy. Also didn't block some other things (webrtc leaking private ip addresses which can be used for tracking).

These days I use something called ublock origin. It's available for most common browsers. Very lightweight and does a good job of blocking nearly everything. It's the first add on I install to any browser before any actual use.

I don’t use any blockers

I use Firefox and chrome and poi factory shows no ads.

No ads here also on both

No ads here also on both chrome and firefox browsers. Try Firefox and go to Options ++>Privacy and Security ++> Permissions and select block popup windows. I do NOT have this option checked and get no popups. You may want to clear your cache.

I have the "block popups" on my firefox

What version do you have? I have 84.01

ads

I use firefox and it shows no ads for poi factory

Ahhh...

But remember, some ISP's, on the fly take the html stream and interject additional thingys ( yes boys n' girls thats a technical term ) and suddenly get pop-ups from places you wouldn't suspect you'd get them from...

Don't ask how I know this... I could tell you but then I'd have to commit hari-kari or is it hara-kiri?
