Hint for Florida residents on Publix website for vaccine

The Publix Pharmacy website is hard to get into because of the high demand. I failed three separate days get an appointment. Suggestion for anyone interested. I sure worked for me.

Open multiple browser pages onto their site. I had 8 open at one time. Each one recycled after 60 seconds. After about 30 minutes one of them came up with the registration page. The multiple browser pages increase your chances of success.

Good luck.

will not get the shots

I am sorry but if it makes you feel more secure, then by all means get the shots, but I am not going to be a science experiment no shots for me.

I gave up and went to the

I gave up and went to the VA. Wife is still waiting on 2 waiting lists. I'm over 75 and she over 70.
We both get flue shots EVERY year. Me since I was 50. Why not? It cost me nothing and MAY prevent the flu. Fifty cents is better than ZERO sense.

Covid vaccine.

Those of you lucky enough to be getting your COVID shots must live in states that are doing a hell of a lot better job than my state is. It is impossible to even get on the schedule at my health clinic. When you go to their scheduling site, all it says is "All available appointments are taken. Check back frequently." They don't have an option to get on a waiting list to be notified when your number comes up. You could spend your whole day checking the site for an available slot. I check the site several times a day, but it is always the same message ... very frustrating.

Unfortunately, there are FEW states that are better. I'm not sure that FL is better but the numbers indicate that - It may also be a carryover political thing.

Tomorrow

Getting our first dose of the Moderna vaccine tomorrow!

2nd Dose

My wife and are are scheduled to receive our 2nd dose of Moderna Vaccine on this Thursday. Our area of West Texas is doing well in getting the vaccine into peoples arms. I am excited about receiving the vaccine .... It's not 100%, I will still be very selective in where I go and will always be wearing a mask!

Stay Safe everyone!

Waiting

I signed up, and I'm waiting for an appointment time/date from the county.

Test bad

I'm thinking the same no vaccine for me

the big experiment is the world

You are already in the big experiment which is how this virus affects the world at large. The experiment is ongoing, and so far the virus is winning at killing people over the vaccines by better than a million to one. There is no means to opt out of the experiment, but you can choose which leg of it you are in.

Good luck flying, staying in hotels and eating in restaurants

Sadly, selfishness and believing in some junk science one read on Facebook may kill many millions of people. Unless there is almost universal acceptance of vaccinations to save the lives of fellow humans, the world will be going through this same exercise every three years until governments go broke.

One other thing to consider before deciding is maybe less altruistic and more self-serving - legal opinions have already been given that employers have every right to bar their workplaces from unvaccinated people. We are already working on union safety protocols to get everyone, from airlines to hotels, entertainment venues and film productions back to work, and that includes mandatory proof of vaccination. I am guessing within a year, NO ONE, and we mean NO ONE will be allowed to fly, stay at a hotel, work at a venue or even watch an event unless they have been vaccinated. We are not taking any chances on the health of our workers and their loved ones.

and I thank you

And I thank you for the person that you donated your shot to. Maybe my wife, Nancy1949. Such a generous person.

Oh goodie

Well said, Chickenhawks. You also could have added that kids who haven't been vaccinated won't be allowed to attend in-school classes either, so, darrell1949, you better be ready to home school the little darlings.

Okay..

I@chickenhawks

While I completely understand the thrust / focus of your position, never fear, the judicial system will step in and adjust your goal such that if you are a illegal alien, undocumented resident, feel otherwise persecuted yheyll fund a way to undo your best efforts..

If your unions are this passionate about this vaccine, why not take the same position for things like the flu vaccine, after all, it too is a respiratory virus just like Corona virus..

Yet there isn't any effort to mandate everyone receive that vaccine before being allowed in public...

On a list

My wife are on the lists in four counties and Advent Health. Nothing yet.
Florida is a mess.

Wisconsin - and some flu news

Wisconsin currently has administered at least the first dose of Covid vaccines to roughly 10% of the population, over 500,000 of 5.8-ish million residents, with a fair percentage having even received the second dose. I keep hearing that Wisconsin is behind other states in vaccinations but maybe that's not accurate.

On a positive note, the seasonal flu in the US and globally is almost nonexistent this winter and a reason for this includes the actions of sufficient people following the pandemic guidelines which also reduces other infections from being spread. Hand washing, masks, social distancing, avoiding large and indoor gatherings have all contributed to the shockingly low incidence of influenza.

Yup. Flue is gone

It’s gone because they tell us because we wore masks and social distance and washed hands. They also state that Covid is up because we don’t do any of that so which is it?

Closing thread

Since this is a site for those interested in GPS and POI's and the majority of us are not epidemiologists, I'm closing this thread.
It did relate as far as a global pandemic does restrict travel, however the conversation has devolved into known political talking points and/or has been less than polite.
