Garmin Express 7.2.0.0

GE 7.2 for the PC is out. I don't know about the Mac version. It has no release notes yet on the Garmin Forum.

Garmin Express 7.2.0.0 Mac is available for download.
I D/L and installed it!

Could be due to the map update ...

Thanks for the heads up.

At least for the map update under Windows, the Garmin Express update came a few days after the latest map update. IMO, if a GE release is needed due to some feature in a map update, then the GE comes first followed by the map, not the reverse sequence.

Always the same

No new update available yet. 7.1.4.0 shows as being up to date.
No matter, just weird that not all of North America gets the update at the same time.

Double check that your Windows is up to date, especially with respect to the .NET Framework. Then attempt to do the download direct from Garmin at https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/windows/

Not showing on my GE either and I have all the updates. Maybe they pulled it back due to a problem.

Withdrawn?

It certainly seems as though Garmin pulled it for some reason. The good news is that with the new NA map installed before 7.2 came out, we won't be needing to use GE for a while so whatever 7.2 was trying to do and whatever caused 7.2 to be pulled (if actually withdrawn), it'll be fixed most likely by the next time we need a software or map update. cool

It does seem that 7.2.0.0 (both PC and Mac) could be the shortest-lived GE version ever offered.

I have 7.2.0.0 from Tuesday and just now verified. But interestingly, if you go directly to Garmin (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/windows/) and download GE it tells me it is already installed and reports a version 7.1.4.0. Going back to GE, it again reports 7.2.0.0.

Just another GE hiccup...

Hmm, not showing avaialble for me.

I am running 7.1.4.0 on a PC. It is saying it is up to date.

Garmin Nuvi 2450

7.2.1.0 now ready for download.

Showing 7.2.1.0 available for download now. As per my post above they must have pulled the 7.2.0.0 version back for problems.

7.2.1.0 is out and as soon as i opened express it showed the update. So there!!!
Windows up to date? Nope....never. Always selective and most of that crap is security issues with IE. And i don't use IE. I'm quite happy with my windows7. Yes i know there's no support and no i don't need it.

7.2.1.0

Just updated itself here. Don't know what the problem might have been previously, but this version seems to work fine.

Thanks

Nearly missed it, will update before I do the map update

What is the changelog?

I didn't bother to update to 7.2.1.0, and the map downloaded just fine.

As has been the case for most GE updates, Garmin has offered no release notes.

Update Announcements

When one runs GE, it forces one to update then. Any need to update before that?

I don't recall being "forced" to update. That may be because I don't have GE always running in the background. You can disable "Always keep Garmin Express running in the background" by opening GE, clicking on the gear shaped icon along the top which will open settings. Then enable or disable as desired.

I think the reason is

I think the reason it's been replaced is the problem I've been experiencing. GE takes forever to appear (if at all) after clicking on the GE icon, after a reboot.

According to Task manager it's running at 0% CPU usage. Killing the process and clicking it again brings it up normally.

Can't find a version later than 7.2.1.0 at Garmin website.

I don't have GE running in the background either. However, when I run it, if there is an update available, it always forces me to execute that update before moving on.

I get a "Don’t install now" option

Not my case, at present when I opened GE I'm given an option to "Install now" or "Don't install now." with respect to 7.2.2.0. If I use the don't install option, the GE seems to work fine.

Install Now

I stand corrected. Checked just now and see that 7.2.2.0 is now available, and I can Install Now or Don't Install Now, same as you described, John..

That said, still not sure why folks run out to d/l it when announced when they will be prompted the next time they run GE. Am I missing something? Wouldn't be the first time! smile
