The last time I opened Garmin Express, I received this message:
Cyclops Red Light and Speed Cameras, U.S. and Canada
Expires 8/7/2020
I have never seen this before. What does it mean?

Most of the info I can see on the site is from several years ago. Wondering why I have never seen this before.

garmin red light and speed camera locations
Cyclops is a paid service from Garmin for red light and speed camera locations. Most recent discussion on this site says that their locations are years out of date unlike POI Factory locations which are from our members.

The other issue is conflicting alerts if both methods are active at once.

Many (All?/Most?) recent Garmin On-The-Road GPS devices come with a trial cyclops file. One of my devices has it and its filename is
USCanadaCyclopsSample.gpi,
is 331KB in size and resides in the device's POI folder. With a paid subscription, Garmin Express will update (and rename?) the file when updates are available. You can delete the file from your GPS if you want to.
In just looking into Garmin's FAQs, the US/Canada Cyclops file contains data for 32 US states and 6 Canadian Provinces.
Does anyone know the US/Canada annual subscription cost?

I noticed a new RLC appeared on my Garmin a couple of weeks ago with the "Garmin" icon vice my POI RLC icon. Is it fair to assume it came from Cyclops? Still not in the RLC POI list.

May be sample data

Like my DS55 came with RLC alert but it was reminding me to get subscription of Speed Camera. Actually it comes with both subscription from Cyclops. But I disabled it and enabled poi alert.

Your insights are very helpful.

Well, you said earlier that your Cyclops subscription expired on August 7, so if you ran Garmin Express and updated your device on or before the 7th, especially if you saw a Cyclops update available that was installed, then it'd be a fair assumption.
If you want to gather more info on this, it'd be nice to see the file date of the cyclops file in your GPS.
Better files (updated) here
Better files (updated) here than from Garmin, and if you contribute they are free.
Support POI Factory not Garmin's Ransomware bill. lol
I have been a Garmin user
I have been a Garmin user for approx 10 years and have never subscribed to Cyclops, and as I mentioned, this was the only time I have ever been prompted to install it. Using both right now, just don't get the audible alert with Garmin(Cyclops). Best of both worlds?
