Drive

There is a thread, somewhere. Questions were asked about how far ahead Smartlink and Drive reported traffic. Last night, coming back from Florida, Drive, with my DS55 reported construction 91 miles ahead, on my route. It also reported I was on the fastest route, suggesting it checked for a reroute.

This is something the Google and Waze are unable to do. I've never seen Waze report any thing out of the view on the screen. And Google doesn't report anything.

Did you find anything

Actually any construction was happening over there?

Garmin DS55 with Traffic

Yes, I did. On I77 there is

Yes, I did. On I77 there is construction trough the northern part of NC in several places. The particular one specified was in VA after you get on I81N.

Several times

Both my 660 and 3597 have reported traffic problems way ahead on my GPS route. I remember one in particular that occured as we were getting back on I-95 at the Doswell, VA exit (MM98 - Kings Dominion exit) and the 660 alerted me about an accident at MM169. The 660 wanted to know if I wanted to take an alternate route. I declined and the accident was cleared by the time we got there.

Waze Works in the distance

Waze reports traffic and other incidents far ahead of what I can see.

I use Waze on an iPhone.

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.

Waze on my iPhone has alerted me to distant events in the past.

I've just never had mine do it. I've used it several times, going to Florida from Virginia and back. This is after the 500 mile calculation restriction was removed.

Check your notifications setting. It is possible to disable notifications for Waze but they have to be ON for traffic reports, accident reports, construction reports, etc.

They're on. I get everything

They're on. I get everything else. But I don't rely on Waze. The Garmin has served me well over the last 15 years.

So, is this something that came on suddenly?

You can't be talking about the DriveSmart 55 in your profile since it has only been around for about 1-year.

So what specific model is giving you the issue and has this problem come on suddenly?

Not Garmin

The traffic problem is with Waze, not my Garmin's.

Is traffic layer on

Go to https://windowsreport.com/fix-waze-not-showing-traffic-repor... and scroll down to the section 2. Turn on Traffic Layer and Traffic Jams. Then retest.

All of that is for Android,

All of that is for Android, that I don't have. On my iPhone every thing is in the Default settings. It's not that important, because I don't use Waze as my Primary, or my Secondary. When it's on it's so that I can see police reports. Garmin takes care of the Traffic.

Try update 4.65.1

Waze had an update last week, version 4.65.1. One of the things it supposedly fixed was a bug that involved the display of traffic.

when I map a route with

when I map a route with google maps it tells me about all the accidents, construction, etc. and factors that into the drive time. If I do it at 9PM it will show 1 hr less time for a 700 mile route than doing it at 10AM.
