Smartlink vs Android 9.0

I'm running an Android 9.0 smartphone.
Whenever I activate Bluetooth, Smartlink comes on automatically. Whenever I turn off Bluetooth, Smartlink continues to run.
Is there a way to stop Smartlink from running automatically?
The only way I've found so far is to reboot my phone with Bluetooth disabled prior to reboot.
I know it doesn't pull much power running in the background, but I'd rather tell it when to run and when not to.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks!!!

My geriatric memory can contain two things. They currently are 1) I was in the Peanut Gallery in ~1950 and 2) that the Dodgers forsook me in 1957. If I can only forget one of them then I can remember something new.

Same issue on my phone

the Bluetooth seems to turn on SmartLink by default. I can turn it off by FORCE STOP (Android) or re-booting the phone. Is this a design flaw?

Buffalo Bob and Clarabell would be honored to know that some of us here actually know and remember who Howdy Doody is!

Quote:

It's Howdy Doody Time.
It's Howdy Doody Time.
Bob Smith and Howdy too
Say Howdy Do to you.
Let's give a rousing cheer,
Cause Howdy Doody's here,
It's time to start the show,
So kids let's go!

LOL, Since This Thread's Already Off The Track . . .

. . . It's triggered a now ancient recollection (when my age could still be counted on 1 hand) of having a rubber squeeze toy named Buffalo Bob that when pressed, whistled via a small hole in a metal button (akin to what's now common in a pet toy) located in the middle of his back (or was it where his navel would be?)

Toward the subject of the OP, with my Android 9 phone's App Power Management setting called "Put unused apps to sleep" enabled, I haven't needed to worry about diving into other settings to do a Force Stop every time or reboot with Bluetooth off. Not sure whether there's any relationship, but on rare occasions I do have to launch Smartphone Link manually to see it as the Traffic Provider when I start using my GPS.

Settings!

There's an option in the smartlink settings (gear icon?) to prevent app launch when BT is enabled/turned on. It's called bluetooth auto connect. Uncheck that.

Gotta Dig Deeper To Get There

Didn't see that option until diving into the battery usage setting in the app, but finally found it. I don't recall seeing that option previously but glad to know about it now!
