Today we received a rebate check dated June 1 2020 from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for April through May for Covid-19 for the lock down in my state. The check was for $22.00, what an insult.
I think it time for me to change insurance companies.
I have been a loyal customer since 1974 with no accidents or summonses. We have 2 cars with liability, collision and comprehensive coverage. I also have home owner with them.
My policy expires in July, the cars will be 1 year older and I guarantee the policy will be more expensive as they have done so in the past.
I wonder what other people have received from their insurance companies as a comparison?.

I have LM as well, I got $91, they said it was 15% based on the April and May monthly bills. I pay a lot for my policies, full coverage on two Jeeps, so I received more back. I'd wager your monthly LM bills are a lot less than mine to have gotten so little.
That said I do think I am overpaying with LM, we also carry home insurance with them and wifey gets a discount based on her employer, but it's still high. We have had a claim and she got a speeding ticket years ago. They should have been wiped off by now.

Wow, you received $91 , your bill must be extremely high compared to mine. I failed to mention both myself and wife attend the 6 hour safe driving course here in NYS every 3 years. so supposedly it lowers insurance rates by 10%.
I used to respect Liberty Mutual since they did not participate in the marketing ads by Geico and Progressive to name a few..
But now they too are all over the TV with expensive ads that in the long run policy owners will pay for.
Sorry for venting but at least I feel better in doing so.

Yes, my vehicle insurance is very high, had wifey shop around a few times over the years and we were actually getting the best price for the coverage we have.
I have a Jeep Wrangler and she has a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We have full coverage on both, with addons, like higher limits on under and uninsured drivers.
I also have extra coverage for glass. The windshield in my model Jeep Wrangler is pretty much straight up and down, no slant, so when something from the road hits it the windshield it breaks. The OEM version of the windshield is around $400 a pop. I have had mine replaced about 8 times since I bought the Jeep in 2013.
I've thought about reducing the coverage to state minimum, but if something happened I can't afford to buy a new car, I'd need the insurance to help.

I’m not sure if I comprehended you correctly, when you stated that you replaced the windshield on your 2013 Jeep Wrangler 8 times. Was it replaced with the OEM glass or generic one?
The reason ask, did Liberty Mutual pay for a factory OEM glass rather than a generic one?
Years ago I had Ford Explorer and had the windshield replaced due to a stone hitting it. I put a claim in with Liberty Mutual to replace the glass, it was done by Safelite Auto Glass.
This company is known all over the country. They were very professional and even came to install it at the company I worked at the time. However, my mistake, I failed to notify the company I was not happy with quality of glass they installed. It was quite difficult see in the rain while driving especially at night. I lived with that until I sold it at a junk yard.
From now on if I ever need a windshield replacement I would only use a stamped OEM windshield.
I would check with the insurance company if OEM windshield would be approved before having the work done. To this day I still don’t know if Liberty Mutual would have approved a Genuine Ford windshield replacement.

OEM each time, in fact I'm not sure there is a suitable non OEM glass for the Wrangler.
Anyway, yes LM will replace with OEM, I specifically told them I wanted OEM. The Wrangler OEM windshield has a few little Jeep related decals in it, like it's iconic grill where the mirror is and a couple little Jeeps climbing a mountain. (see the link below for a photo)
The process is simple, LM has a "glass only" line where they set you up with Safelite. I always opt to bring it to them at their shop. That way it's guaranteed to be done, weather wouldn't play into it.

To better explain why they break ... there is little to no slant so the windshield absorbs any impact fully, it can't deflect the debris upward. I do a lot of high speed highway driving to and from work, stuff is always being kicked up by the tires of vehicles in front of me.

Thinking back I think Safelite only offers the OEM glass for the Wrangler, either way it's what I wanted and going with Safelite is the easiest since LM prefers it.

I have auto, home and a liability umbrella policy with Liberty Mutual. No accidents or claims for over 20 years. I received a $51 rebate. I agree, it's a joke.
As a retiree, I get a discount through my former employer. I occasionally shop around and even with the discount, almost always get a better quote from other insurers.
Every few years I call L.M. and threaten to cancel the policies. They transfer me to their "customer retention" department and miraculously offer me a better rate for the same coverage. It's a game that many insurance companies play.
If you want a discount, don't be afraid to ask for one. It's worked for me for a great many years.

The wife had to drive to work every day. They get the mileage from the onboard computer via Onstar I think. At least they tell me how many miles I've driven over or under my yearly estimate at renewal time.

I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.

First of all those are odd amounts. I thought it boiled down to $20/car per month so we're still not talking a lot. Maybe $40*n where n=number of cars so some have 3 or $120? So far all state farm has done was to charge me the monthly.
On the OE glass. I don't know why but it seems OE and OEM are used interchangeably especially when talking about Japanese auto parts. They are not the same and German and American car mfgs differentiate them.
OE is original equipment
OEM is original equipment manufacturer
Let me use a 2007 BMW as an example.
From the factory, it came with glass made by Saint Gobain Sekurit.
There are 3 grades of automotive glass.
OE, OEM, and aftermarket.
OE will be made by Saint Gobain, Pilkington, and today Fuyao. They will have a BMW logo, or whatever the car mfg. is.
OEM will be identical to the above, made by Saint Gobain, Pilkington, Fuyao, but not have a BMW logo. It is equivalent, and substantially less expensive.
Aftermarket will be the Safelites of the world.
My experience with this and the lizard company (I know it's a gecko but I call it a lizard and terrible co.)? I had to argue with them for 40 min. going around in circles, to get the windshield with the BMW logo on it. Why put a customer through that? They kept saying the Safelite is only $140, the BMW is $800+, why would you want that? I said because my deductible (go figure other states don't have one on glass, PA does) is $100, I pay $100 either way, I don't care that you pay more for the OE glass.
I have a 2006 car and I hear the windshield is well over $1000 (mine is original and it has a sticker from the original selling dealer on it which I like, I am the 3rd owner). Insurance doesn't really feel like shelling that out if the wholesale on the car is 7,000. But I hear that if OE glass is not used, the rain sensor doesn't work. AND, it's because the rain sensor is a poor design, not really the windshield. But that's not the owner's problem, if insurance wants to collect the comp, they need to pay.
p.s. home is still programmed in the gps by the original owner, so I googled it. My 2006 car used to live in a house with a 7 car garage in FLA, now it sits outside, never garaged, in a driveway in PA. Life is sad sometimes.
It's a good idea to get a quote every year....
Most times there's not much difference. I did this year and could have saved about $80 a year total that included Auto, Home and umbrella. My refund check was $42. I usually go with companies that quote for a year, not 6 months like Farmers, State Farm and Allstate.
$19.38 for one month
$18.53 from Allstate.
dobs108
Allstate originally sent me $18.53, but that was for one month, probably April. They just sent another check for $19.38 for May. Their policy is to return 15% of the total premium.
dobs108
State Farm...
Single retired driver, 1 car, 1 truck, 2 motorcycles, house, several policy riders... $53. I can't complain... my driving habits haven't changed due to COVID-19.
Covid 19 Insurance Checks
$27 each, one at end of April and one mid-May from Allstate for the auto policy. Just got a letter that the next one will be a credit on renewal but it will be for both the auto and motorcycle policies.
I have received 2 checks, also. Thank you, Lord!
I
decided to check and for 3 cars, it's $99.38. This represents March 20 to May 31.
Not to be ungrateful, but how did that translate to $20 per month per car like they said?
It's a small amount of discrepancy, let's face it, $20.62. But it's a huge %. To me it's no different than a car costing say $700/yr when it's wholesale is $40k, and then one day 13 years later the wholesale is only $9k, and the car costs $800/yr to insure, no accidents nor claims. I envision a future world where we stick up for ourselves and say, it wasn't what you promised lol
My main point is again not the $ amount, but I was taught when you tell someone xyz, you follow through.
p.s. interesting I saw that someone else got $91, and was told that implies insurance is very high. Not to get too nosey, but is $600/yr for 100/300/100 full coverage, a lot for a car? I mean when my 2007 was brand new, back then it listed for $47k and it was over $600. With the hands people it was almost $800 and 11 years old!!! Only with Jake did it come back to just about $600. Maybe where we live has something to do with it (Philadelphia suburbs). We also can pay as little as $38, and as much as $95, for an annual state inspection. I used to live in NYS and yes we took a class to get reductions--that does not exist in PA. Do you know, that there are people in PA who actually drive with hands at 10 and 2, in 2020? It was around 1992 that people were instructed not to do that. 28 years ago.
Geico
I'm getting 15%, but when? Everyone i know has gotten theirs. I got $14 for my motorcycle but still waiting on the auto.
Welcome to the Forum
I really should have thought this thing out before posting in my original thread. Too many variable involved for what to expect as a refund.
You have to compare apples to oranges such as liability coverage, collision if covered, as well as deductibles. comprehensive coverage, age(s) of the cars, and perhaps a discount for optional homeowners coverage that may reduce the price for the annual premium.
I think if you want to compare prices, have your existing policies ready with all the figures on it when calling a competitors insurance company. I want to have that in writing before I make any payments to them.
@Benoit69
I would call Geico and see what the delay is regarding the auto
portion rebate, perhaps the Gecko forgot to mail in.

My auto insurance renewed mid May and the premium increase was much more than the Safe driver award and the COVID-19 rebates. No tickets or claims and one of my cars hasn't logged more than 10 miles since last October! This is giving me a sour taste.

I was a lot younger in 2007. Single. Male (obviously). I bought a new BMW that has a top speed of 155 mph limited. The list was $47k. I thought that $650/yr was a reasonable amount to insure that car.
Flash forward to about 2018. Now, the car has a wholesale value of $9700, and it's almost $800/yr. to insure? Only when I switched back to Jake, was it again just over $600. But now, the car must be worth like $8000 lol
See the disconnect? There is "no" reward for not claiming anything. Why would a new car today probably with a $70k list price, cost the same to insure as a 12 y.o. car with a 4 figure value? Somebody out there can be honest with us.
p.s. I'm not a senior, as I understand that causes rates to go up

Stupid me
I bought a new car a couple of years ago. It has a backup camera, blind-spot alert, collision mitigation, lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise; all the cool safety related stuff. I figured all those things that would help me avoid bending things up would get me a discount. Nay, nay!!! The embedded sensors and gizmos that go along with them make repair costs higher. The collision and comp went up significantly.

got
a formal notice in the mail about the state farm covid credit. Again I'm not complaining $99.xx is fine. But if I were smarter I would have droped comp/collision on all 3 cars, and created my own discount.
Anyway, I keep getting spam "Save $509 on your insurance!"
While cleaning up, I found a letter from the agent I am with today (have been about 10 mos.), more than 2 years ago saying I would save and listing out our 3 cars. I won't ignore those letters in the future. At least with state farm, the rates dropped after first 6 mos. and no longer a $1/mo. fee for paying monthly (the hands people made me pay 6 mos and 12 mos in advance by checking!).
It seems that when I shop myself, no savings. When the letter or email comes and lists out the VIN#s on our vehicles, literally $500-$1000 savings annually. Makes me feel like a fool--if I can save $900 (real number) off of the hands people that I had for 8 years without a claim, I must be a fool for paying it, not the agent, for taking my money, right?
Again I think the key to savings is an unsolicited offer, that already has the vehicle info. my .02
