BC 40 Backup Camera Stuff

I have questioned if the BC 40 gives a “Low Battery” message before the batteries are completely dead and never gotten an answer, even from Garmin. The BC 40 gave me that answer today when a “Low Battery” message appeared at the top of the DriveSmart 65 screen.
I checked my battery orders to try to determine how long the Energiser batteries lasted. My last battery order was either 10/01/19 or 10/20/19. That means that the batteries have lasted well over the three mounts stated in the Garmin add.
The camera has been on more than normal because I spent a lot of time adjusting the guidelines. After many settings, I decided to make the side white guidelines match the white boundary lines of a standard shopping center parking space.
I can also report that the BC 40 retains the guideline settings after replacing the batteries so you don’t need to do the adjustment again..
I really like the BC 40.

This is good information for those using or interested in buying the BC 40. Just out of curiosity, are you using AA lithium or alkaline batteries?

I have BC-40's on two of my vehicles. Standard Duracell alkaline batteries have lasted 4 months so far with both.
I don't know if the camera is powered on 24 / 7 or just the Bluetooth circuitry which is activated by a signal from the GPS. If the camera is on all the time, battery life should be predictable and consistent. If not, it will depend on usage. In my case, the vehicles are used on average about twice a week.
erroneous message?
Lithium cells have lasted 112 and 145 days in my experience. My only frustration is that sometimes a failure to connect results in the low battery message when the batteries are not the problem.
I haven’t seen what I thought to be that erroneous message for a while. Perhaps that was cured by a software update or perhaps that wrong message is still lurking.
BC40
The BC40 is pretty good for anyone with no factory backup camera. Only problem I have with it is the mount. It sucks because you have to remove it everytime you park somewhere because it takes 2 sec for someone to steal it.

I read these comments about the BC40 and I'm glad I have the BC30. It was a pain to do the wiring but it's a hard mount and bluetooth to my Garmin. These newer Garmins that are now using the BC40, will they also accept the BC30? Do you have an option?
