How do I delete POIs on my Nuvi 660?

I inadvertently loaded duplicate Starbucks POIs on my Nuvi 660. How do I delete them?

You can use POI Loader to

You can use POI Loader to delete all the Custom POIs that you have loaded to your unit.

Also, you could navigate to the GARMIN folder on your unit and delete the POI.GPI file. This is the file that contains your Custom POIs.

Help! It did not work

I followed your directions and deleted the POI.GPI file from my Nuvi 660. I disconnected the Nuvi 660 from my computer and turned it on. The custom POIs are still there.

Also, I cannot figure out how to delete custom POIs using the POI loader. When using the loader I can find no delete option.

I would appreciate any assistance.

where did you load them to?

Did you load them on a SD card AND the 660's internal memory using poi loader?

When using the poi loader you should get an option to "load poi's" or "remove previously loaded poi's"
Not sure of the exact wording, (don't have the gpsr hooked up) but you will have to check the proper box.

When you deleted the poi.gpi file...was that the only file in there? Did you check the SD card as well as your gpsr's internal memory?

Still need help - Using MacIntosh POI loader on Nuvi 660

I am using the MacIntosh POI loader to load to my Nuvi 660. There appears to be no option to remove the POIs, only loading.

I have deleted the POI.GPI file from both my NUVI and the SD card, yet the POIs are still there when I disconnect from my MacBook Pro and turn the NUVI on.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Problem has to do with how the Mac handles deleted files. See: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/3169

Question about loading additional POI's on Garmin Nuvi 660

Hello,
Would appreciate some info on the following. The Nuvi 660 already comes with 6 million preloaded POI's, when purchasing additional POI's to load on the nuvi, does the system automatically detect duplication of POI's if they already exist in the unit? ( for example no one would want to see the same Gas station pull up twice as a listing on the unit) and if duplication is a risk how does one know that the additional POI's that one purchases don't already exist on the unit.
Thanks.

My understanding of personal

My understanding of personal POI's is that the ones you create are either on a SD card or place on your units HD and can only be searched when you go that area where your poi's are located. When you do a normal search in your unit, you don't search home made POI's.

Did you empty the "Trash" before disconnecting your 660?

Dragging the POI file to the trash and emptying it always delete custom POI from my 350 using a Mac

Where is your POI file?

A few things to consider:

1. Make sure you are deleting the right poi.gpi file. That is the one under /Volumes/nuvi/Garmin. In the Finder, it's nuvi->Garmin.

2. Empty the Trash!

3. Eject the nuvi Volume! Without doing this, the device will not force all changes to close on the device.

After you eject the nuvi Volume (wait for the Mac to show the device is gone; you will see the Device reboot on the main screen), then disconnect the USB cable.

Your entire Custom POI menu option will be gone.
