printing photos

Does anybody know why printed photos at a pharmacy or major retailer, are terrible?

We're not talking about smartphone pics, we're talking about from my 24 MP DSLR.

I decided to send the same print to 2 places, and both were terrible, yet not the same. Colors off, streaky, and not at all the same as from the computer monitor/laptop.

I expect maybe some would say, why would you want to print anything anyway lol? but it's really unacceptable quality imho...

Not sure why you are having problems, but I get the complete opposite results. When my wife and I go on a long trip with lots of pictures . I put them on a disc and go to Walmart to have them developed. Have done this many times and even on line then picked them up at Walmart. The results have always been outstanding. My wife likes to make albums for these pictures.

Have used Walgreen to copy pictures also with good results but Walmart my first pick.

just

I just did a google search and some place called mpix came up and said (I know it's the web) #1 photographer recommended service over 50k 5 star reviews, 24 hours and 19 cents per print. It would be interesting to send again the same file to them to see.

Mine are excellent

My wife and I use Walgreen's and their quality is excellent.

I use them to make a calendar of some pictures on a cross country trip. Was very happy with the results.

Have used Walmart with no issue

Many years ago a lot of these printing shops were using Kodak. Not sure what they are using now.

Yeah,

I print at CVS a couple times per year. Result is always quite good. I couldn't expect much more.
