Test patterns on Blue Ray disc

I’ve been working on this for a while now and
Would like to get some feedback.

I have put together a blue ray disc with test patterns for
Aligning a display. It is not a step by step with
Instructions, it assumes you know what you want to do
And know which steps need to be done.

I ran into 2 issues as I started:
1. Blue Ray authoring program defaulted to RGB
Color space (16-235), and some test patterns used
Video outside those levels to align display.
Once I determined how to author a Blue Raybdisk in YUV Color space (01-254), that hurdle was overcome,
but the next one reared it’s ugly head:

2. There was no simple way to Easily & Quickly determine if what you were looking at was RGB or YUV Colorspace before starting in with the patterns. (You'd want to view BR disc in YUV Colorspace)...

I had to alter an existing test pattern to make this determination easy for the operator.

With both obsticals overcome I’d like to make this
Available for download.

You will need a Blue Ray burner, as the file I would provide is an .ISO file, that will burn a blank Blue Ray BD-R disc into a finished operational disc.
The finished BR will be encoded at the highest BR bandwidth: H264 at 40Mb/sec.

Contact me offline if you would want to test this.

I would like feedback.

Yes, I do have this as a

Yes, I do have this as a DVD, but I’m not offering that because even at the Maximum Bandwidth of a DVD: 9Mb/sec, Some of the test patterns degrade to the point of being unusable.

So a DVD will NOT be made available.

Just wondering

what this is for. I don't see any mention for the purpose of this!

Garmin GPS have a built in program to align and colour check the screen, if this is what this is supposed to do?

Calibrate signals for aligning a tv/computer display?

Brings back memories

I remember when TV's signed on with test patterns, lol. Remember the Horizontal, Vertical and Fine tuning knobs

And signed off with test patterns.

Actually, one of the test

Actually, one of the test patterns I’ve included on this BR is the famous “Indian Head” test pattern!

Except it is in 16x9 Aspect

Except it is in 16x9 Aspect ratio! Along with a couple other unique patterns and videos: A/V Sync, And MPEGKILLER.
There are settings in TVs & Computer Displays that benefit from these test patterns.

Sounds cool

It sounds cool what you are doing.. Wish I could help but I only have a Blue ray Reader (Xbox One in fact) so I could not write one.

I would def try it out if I could, I got so many different types of TV's and computer monitors. I belie that it was Xbox One, or a game for it let you get different test patterns so that you can fine tune using the TV setting.

Well, I've an ISO for BR,

Well, I've an ISO for BR, and if you can find someone with a BR Burner, Contact me offline, and I'll give you a link to it...

I really would like some feedback on these patterns...

You would not want a DVD of it... I've made one, and it just doesn't have the bandwidth, even at maximum bandwidth to do the signals justice...
