Finally added 2nd outside "Security/Critter Camera"

I picked up another HikVision DS 2CD2042WD-1 POE security camera inexpensively off Ebay last November, after determining it wasn't hacked Chinese version....

On arrival, on an Isolated Network, updated firmware to remove the infamous back door these cameras have, and configured it as a "Driveway Camera"...

Once updated with Clean, Stable Firmware, it basically sat on desk under test all winter long... Last week it was tested on a cable off the garage patch point handheld outside garage to verify POE would work there, and confirm that the LED Motion Detect Floodlight on house would be outside the field of view of this camera.... It worked, Image Looked Good, field of view missed floodlight, and the 16x9 aspect allowed both view of house entrance, and hillside as "Critter Camera" use!

With that handheld success, drilled into the "Dry Pipe" on side of garage, (had builder run a dry pipe submerged between house and garage during house build) installing PVC Pipe and Gig cable enclosure to side of garage facing toward the house..... and installed Camera...

Winter weather caused the installation delay, but it all worked out flawlessly!!! and the overall expense was ~$100.

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

What system used?

What are you using to monitor or save video? Software on PC, NVR, or something like Synology Surveillance Station? Thanks

We've got 10 cameras and 6 spotlights

Anywhere you go on property 2 or more cameras will catch your activities, Arlo Pro 2 system. Cameras and Spotlights can be programed to trigger other cameras and lights when triggered. Totally wireless, Battery, solar powered/recharged. Has free Cloud 7 day record, no contract so if we go somewhere and need longer Cloud or more features can temp for $9.99 and up per month. Have captured Bobcat, Pair of Javalina that visit regularly, Racoon. Recently caught some local youth punks that have been ringing doorbells at 2:00 AM, breaking Car windows and such. Sheriff loved the video and recognized them instantly. Neighbor that had a $1500 Curved rear window had me help him put in same system, caught them next night on his system. Mine caught them throwing rocks and sneaking around with daylight pic's. One snitched on other about the window and now there is peace in the hood, lol.

I've always worried about hacked versions. I had a 6 camera one once. Forgot the name but at the time everything was harded wired. Hate my attic. Main problem was when it got a little foggy, it would create a white out. Returned it.
Still need one for our animals.
