Where are they? (gmapprom.img and JVC files on 61)

Out of curiosity I was looking at the files on the hard drives of a Nuvi 2460 & a DriveSmart 61.

I could find the map file gmapprom.img on the 2460 but could not on the 61, so where is it on the 61?

Also, I found it on the 2460 by using the "windows search bar" for gmapprom.img didn't see it in any of the folders. Same search on the 61 got nothing?

Hidden files are set to show.

Also where is the JCV file?

They are both in the .system folder (Dot System).

The JCV file is in a folder called JCV within the .system folder and the gmapprom.img file is in the root of the .system folder.

You mention that you have your computer set to show these files but if I recall correctly you need to also change the device from MTP storage mode to Mass Storage in order to see the .system folder. See:

Being able to see these files on one GPS but not on the 61 would suggest that the 61 is in MTP storage mode. Is the computer/gps icon on the 61's screen yellow when connected to the computer. If so your in MTP mode.

On the 2460 there was a JCV folder but it appeared to have 2019.20 in it, based on date changed, the mapset is 2019.30.

I didn't see a .system folder and when I searched for either via the search bar nothing was found.

I have Windows set to show hidden files, is there a different setting on the Garmin itself?

I see you added some info while I was replying, and my question was spot on, changing to mass storage now
