hi - (slow to locate satellites)

my garmin c320 takes too long to locate and acquire satellite.. it used to be a 5 sec process... but ever since i took a trip to washington it has started taking 2-3 mins to acquire satellite..

any idea of what i can do .. i have tried to reset the unit but with no luck ...

thank you

WAAS/EGNOS turned on?

If you've got WAAS/EGNOS turned on in the System menu, it will take longer to acquire first fix, especially if the unit has been off for a while (several days). Two to three minutes isn't unreasonable for a cold start (whereby the GPSr has to wait for the GPS almanac to download).

Try turning off WAAS/EGNOS and see if it fixes faster. You can turn it back on after you're under way.

Had similar and got worse...

I had similar problem, then it got worse and worse. Your case might be different though. But I ended up sending back my nuvi 350 and they replaced it with obviously returned and repaired unit by someone else. It is not bad though... This one works OK.

One thing I remember from the tech rep is that you can do master reset (not like the one in the manual, but a different master reset) by holding (and this is on nuvi as far as I know, but it might work on the other Garmins) the left-top, not the right-top corner while powering on. Then answer yes to the question to clear up user data. It is not clearing up your POIs or personal things, but just the data it gathered while you used it.

Cheers.
