TomTom & IGo Maps

Does anyone know when Tomtom and Igo upgrade new maps for North America?
Cheers.

They just did...

TomTom just updated their North America maps to 675.1409. There are two version, North_America (1.4 GB) and USA_and_Canada (900 MB). For some reason only GO 710/910 model can get the larger North America version and all other devices can only have the smaller one for the same price. I suspect that because of the internal memory size but that does not explain why PDA version treated the same. One more thing, user can not select from the US version of the TomTom website to get NA maps but can from UK version, for example. It is a bit pathetic of their website...

I own a One and upgraded it to a 2GB card - I was able to upload the North_America map without any problems.

I agree with Jeff, due to memory issues only the GO 710/910 models can utilize the new NA map right out of the box. The instructions that come with the 'new' map CD tell you which map to load depending on the TomTom model you have.

Version on PDA

For the PDA version, you must use Navigator 6 correct?

Magellan Maestro 4250, T-Mobile G1 with Google Maps, iPaq with TomTom, and a Tapwave Zodiac with TomTom and Mapopolis

Tom Tom PDA

My iPAQ rx5915 uses Navigator 6 so I assume that's it for all PDA's.

Correct

Yes. The latest official release is 6.030. Hopefully Nav 7 will be released soon as it has a few features that are very interesting, for one you can record your own Nav voice...

Jeff

Another feature

As I understand it, 7 will allow you to edit the built in POI files. For example, you can add a restaurant to its restaurant file so you don't have to have two sets of similar POI's.

Cheers

Are you sure?

I thought that the built-in POI is off-limit. They do allow you to create your own voice etc. I guess we'll just wait and see as it is not released for PDA yet.

Jeff

I only know what I read

Don't know about the PDA version but according to a couple of reviews I read, it should be possible. I know it is not possible in Navigator 6.

In order to do many of those "exciting" thing, you have to purchase 7 series new map. Nav 7 still works with old v6 map but not those new features though.
