Garmin nuvi compatible wall charger

I'm looking to get an AC wall charger that is compatible with a nuvi 2689. Has anyone had any success (no error message and it works!) with 3rd party chargers?
Anyone had damage due to a 3rd party charger? I'm not adverse to buying the Garmin product at $24 but I already have some high end Anker chargers and don't need another.

I have a third party charger which is fine and any standard charger that puts out the correct voltage will work

Any charger putting out the correct voltage and more importantly higher amperage will work. 1,000 -1,500 ma. Actually if you can find a charger with a USB outlet it will be even more useful to be used with other items.
Garmin is nowhere near as finicky as iPhone etc.
