Garmin Nuvi 3597 Forgot we were on a trip

Selected a saved location i hadn't been to this morning and after not taking the exact path it wanted it picked up on my route. Trip was about 22 miles and about half way there it suddenly was not showing me the way. Like i was just riding down the road. My next turn it stayed silent. I turned then pulled over and entered the location again and everything worked fine. No idea what happened. If it had lost power it would have told me but it didn't. Any ideas

reboot the GPS

My 3597 is always running when driving the car and it goes to sleep when the car is off. It sometimes gets confused and stays silent. I then reboot it and it is alright. I am rebooting it more often recently and have been able to avoid any problems.

Nuvi 3597 getting old and forgetful like me

I don't use mine a lot but this is first time i had this problem. It may be just showing it's age...can't remember what year i bought it but it was refurb. thanks for the info

Me too

I've had that happen a time or 2 to mine also. I think I had a via in my route and once it was satisfied it made the via, the purple route line disappears as if it had arrived at the final destination. It was easy to tap Where To, Recent and the destination and all was back on the rails.

I use it maybe 10,000 miles/year as we take many extended road trips. I've maybe seen that 2-3 times over the past 4 years I've had it. It has had a few odd things happen, often after an update and a hard reset set it straight. Perhaps I unknowingly cured the premature arrival with one of those resets.

Add Me to the List

I've had this happen with my 3597's as well. It's rare but the unit occasionally "drops" a route while navigating. I've had this happen with other Garmin units so it isn't specific to the 3597. Fortunately, it rarely happens and is quickly cured with a reboot. It's anyone's guess as to why this occurs.

I have this unit for the

I have this unit for the last many years and cannot remember any such occurrence. I have used this unit on long drives From Toronto to Orlando but no issues for me.

You're not alone.....at least as far as your own old & forgetful part. LOL

I walk into a room and forget why I went there.

Years ago, was heading south through indiana on a state highway (somewhere near I65). All of a sudden the nuvi 750 locked up. Screen wouldn't update. Pulled over, tried restarting. Took about 45 minutes before the unit came back to life. Very odd.

Apparently such issues are undocumented garmin features. Since then I've always carried a spare unit on the bike.

Haven't encountered this issue yet with the driveluxe 50 or drivesmart 61. Probably still a good idea to being a spare.
