I tried to use GTM 60 with my Smartdrive 61 LMT so that someone else uses my car can still get traffic without Smartlink app but it kept showing me to connect to Smartlink app for traffic information. Is there a way to make it connect with GTM 60? I will appreciate your help..
According to the spec's on the DriveSmart 61, it should be compatible with a GTM-60. I don't have that model to test with, but maybe there is something in the setup menus that addresses this.
I use the Garmin Drivesmart 61 with my smartphone and it gives my the traffic data. When one of my kids uses the car, they don't have cellphone data so i need to give them a GTM60 cable which has the embedded FM receiver in it.
To be sure, it is best to go to the bluetooth section of the settings and uncheck the "Smartphone services" checkbox. This will be sure that the GPS is not looking to use the cell phone and should default to the cable as its source for traffic services.
One other thing...under settings, there is a section called "traffic" and it also has a checkbox which needs to be checked. Under the heading it says, "compatible traffic accessory required". This may need to be checked once the cable is connected and the unit detects its presence...may take 1-3 minutes.
I think that is all the possible things that need to be done - good luck!!
maybe try turning off Bluetooth on the nuvi.
I've got a DS 61 and the GTM 60 traffic cord and the SmartLink app. I've tried the cord and the SmartLink app and the app seems like it provides a lot more info.
I don't recall having to do anything heroic to get the GTM 60 to work. I would turn off Bluetooth, get your cable connected, go into settings>Traffic and see if the box is checked (first entry) and see if there is something listed under "Current Provider".
OK, perfect. Thanks for the advice.
Invest in the traffic capable power cable - well worth it.
