Facebook Acknowledges 'Bug' That Suggested Public Sharing To Users

by Lucian Armasu June 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM - Source: Facebook Newsroom

Facebook admitted that a “bug” automatically changed suggested sharing settings to “public” for 14 million users from May 18-27.

Facebook Changes Privacy Settings For Users (Again)

Facebook has had a long history of changing people’s privacy settings from private to public. The company claims that in this situation the issue was caused by a bug, and that it wasn’t intentional. This could very well be the case considering it only happened to a relatively small percentage of people (out of 2+ billion users).

Facebook claimed that this privacy issue appeared when the company’s developers were working on new ways to share featured items on your profile, like a photo. Because these features are public, the suggested audience for all posts were set to public, instead of just the featured items.

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

Don't feel like a victim

By now you should know that nothing on the web or on your smart phone is private. If you take a photo, like some celebrities have done sans clothing, that photo may appear on the web. Heck, even phone calls are not immune from privacy hacking. Isn't there a NSA lab somewhere that listens to gazillion phone calls looking for key phrases?

Even posting vacation photos real time on facebook can lead to coming home to your house being burglarized.

That's one reason...

...I never use Facebook. I do have an account but everything on the account is fictitious. (Even the email account.) I don't trust them. Never have. And their security is ludicrous.

I don't have or use Facebook

I don't have or use Facebook for anything. Never felt the ego need to share my life with the world.

Avoid

No Facebook, Google, YouTube or Apple. Even Adam had a problem with Apple.

Bull

In light of the rash of Facebook "indiscretions" lately, anyone who believes anything that comes from the official mouth of FB is either unread, misinformed, in denial or terminally naive. Zuckerberg is so good at looking so sincere as he lies through his teeth that it sickens me.
Zuckerberg and Facebook can go straight to hell.

FYI
That "bug" is nothing new. It's been working the same way since the beginning. Every now and then, my privacy settings get changed to public. That was some 7+ years ago. Yeah, let's call that a bug. I used to check my privacy settings regularly. I gave up doing that.

No Facebook...

Just one more example of why I don't use Facebook. Just say NO.
