Two ways

1) If looking for custom POI files in the device, look for gpi files, not gpx. If you accept the default file when running POI Loader, the file will be poi.gpi but if you've named custom output files in POI Loader, just look for the gpi files.

2) The POI Loader program once connected to a device gives you a checkbox to remove all POIs. That should do the trick too although I've never tried it.

Connect your gps to the computer and click on the Garmin Drive. Now click on the Garmin folder, then the poi folder. Locate file or files with gpi extension.Delete the ones with the gpi extension. If you have a Mac computer delete the files in the trash bin before disconnecting the gps from the computer. Now re-boot the device.

Double check your SD card for the gpi extensions. If found repeat process above.

Run the poi loader program to reinstalled the custom pois.

remove all POIs

Every time I run POI Loader I check the box to remove all POIs first. The reason is that the modern version of POI Loader allows custom naming of the .gpi file. I may have forgotten or did not keep a record of all the names of .gpi files I have used. This is how I avoid duplicate POIs.

This can also be done by using the PC and looking in the GPS folders and files and delete the unneeded files, but why take even a slight risk of deleting the wrong thing?

Might have to run twice

POI Loader: In the step before you select Remove all previously installed Custom POI from you device, you have a pulldown menu to select. The POI may have been installed in the past to the Garmin or to an inserted SD card or inadvertently to both. Select one, then run the remove, the relaunch POI Loader and this time select the other if it exists and then run remove again.
