2019.10 Map Not Available to Me

Saw the thread about map update 2019.10 available (as of three weeks ago). Just now plugged in my 2689 and ran Garmin Express. It says I am up to date (with 2018.30). Any ideas on what is going on?

Only offers 2018.30 map for Driveluxe 50.

I just got the DriveLuxe 50 refurb I ordered for my son, and even though I was able to update all 3 of my older Garmin's to 2019.10, only 2018.30 is offered for the Driveluxe. So this "pulled map" bug has now bitten me too. It is a real mystery what conditions cause this.

A picture is worth a thousand words. cool

sooooooo

Is this a "map problem" or a "map update doesn't show up/update on all units correctly" problem?

I have 2019.1 installed on my computer and GPSMAP64s and all seems to be well. GE (6.2.0.0) does not show anything new.

@Diesel, please read the @Raycock 's message.

Just got off the line with Garmin support. They advised that they are still having trouble with the 2019.1[0] map update with some units not showing as an update. They advised that the map makers are aware of the problem and would fix the issue. I did ask them if the map was going to be called the same name since the updated map would have the fixes and he said yes. I guess that we'll hall have to keep a check on it and let each other know when the update comes out.

@Diesel, Yes, you are correct in that Garmin Express 6.2.2.0 does not have anything significant, but whatever it does have, probably was for the best - I think.

some people have complained with the 2019.10 map update that their units were not working properly.

So, I am guessing it's a map issue itself, and some kind of map processing issue in various models.

And the fact that they are going to call it 2019.1

furthur complicates the issue.

Map error install happening on some PCs..

A chat with Garmin today confirmed the problem I experienced with 2019.10 not installing on my Dell Studio 17 was a common problem. The install also corrupted 2018.10.
Currently downloading 2018.30 to see if I can get a map back on PC.

Updates for Garmin Express & Update to 2019.10 not available

I try to update Garmin express with no luck. I try to update maps from 2018.30 to 2019.10 with no luck.
I connected my gps like I did before to be informed that my maps are up to date.
I read many comments & decided to wait for better news.
I hope this is not going to be permanent failure of updates.

I don't know much about the ins & outs of updates or failures, but I have confidence that we have in this site some good people with the right knowledge to guide people like me to a good ending.

I thank all members & efforts being done to pass this saga of updates. I know in the future more are coming, but with effort will reach a happy ending.

no update

Thanks for the heads up.

I will skip this update not planning any trips at this time.

just updated to GE 6.2.0

And it is still showing 2018.3 as the only map update available for my Nuvi 2595. Wake me up when they resolve the issue. smile

Good news! 2019.10 now available!

The new (refurbished) DriveLuxe 50LMTHD that I purchased a couple of weeks ago was one of the devices that was stuck on 2018.30. I have been checking for map updates every day since I got it and today Garmin Express (v 5.5.0.0) offered the 2019.10 map update. It is downloading now.

File differences.

I see a couple of file differences between this newest 2019.10 map release (installed on my DriveLuxe 50LMTHD) compared to the original one released in January (installed on my 3597LMTHD). The the main map file, gmapprom.img, is about 64 KB smaller than the original January release, and the JCV file name is now D3191250B.JCV instead of D3191250A.JCV, but the JCV files are identical in size.

The ASR, SID and .DB files have entirely different names on the DriveLuxe 50 than they do on the 3597. That may be normal though, as I don't yet have enough experience with the DriveLuxe to know the file naming conventions. Based on the 2018.30 map version though, I think at least some of these feature files were named the same on the two devices. So it appears that on this latest 2019.10 map releae, all of these feature files have different names than they did on the original January release of 2019.10.

This may give us some clues to what Garmin fixed ... but who knows? As of now, I do not plan to reinstall the map on my 3 nuvi's that got the map update back in January.

Glad They Corrected the Problem

Just installed the new update on my 2689. It went very quickly on my new PC (AMD Ryzen 7). Now going to do my older 265WT. Looks like I haven't updated it in a year.

You can add my...

3590LMT to the growing list of updated nuvis and the like.

Finally!!!

Updated!

Does anyone know why it was pulled?

If you already have the map, will it install again for what ever changes they did?

Not for me

pwohlrab wrote:

I updated my nuvi 750 and 3597 when 2019.10 first came out. I just connected each with Garmin Express and neither was offered a revised map. I saw that as expected, I was could find and choose Reinstall Map but I won't do that unless someone points out that it'd be a good idea and would change something.

Thanks Craig and Alan

Thank you Craig and Alan regarding status of 2019.10 map.
I too will not reinstall the map 2019.10 I downloaded in January.
I see no issues with the map, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I've got better things to do and I'll wait for the 2019.20 map to be available.

2019.10 map re-released...

I just plugged in my 3490 this morning and Garmin Express shows 2019.10 map as an update. When I checked yesterday there was no update available. So it appears that Garmin has gotten the issue with the maps resolved and re-released it again.

Latest Release - No Obvious Difference to Me...

Well, I'd nothing better to do last night with the storm outside so I re-downloaded the East portion for both the 1350LMT and 1450LMT. smile The new IMG map files are exactly the same size--down to the byte. However, the security/lock mechanisms in all downloaded files are different. The re-downloaded D3153260A.JCV was identical--byte for byte--to the previously downloaded version. That's my finding, FYI.

Might Update the 3597...

Alan, you may want to update and reinstall CNNANT2019.10 to your 3597 as other GPS forums are reporting changes to the feature files, FYI. I believe your two other GPS units are probably unaffected and OK without updating.

Could you please provide the link to this discussion?

I don't think there is any policy here against posting other forum chat if it is relevant to the current thread chat.

Well ...

my take on this is if Garmin thought the update from the January release of 2019.10 to the March release of 2019.10 had critical consequences, they would offer it as an update on Garmin Express, and probably would have named it 2019.11.

So for me, until I see some problems or have someone tell me what was fixed, I am staying put with what I installed in January.

Agree...

with alanb. Been running the January release of 2019.10 on our 2455LMT and 2555LMT Nuvis with no problems. This has included several trips out of our local area and multiple states.

Until we find out what was fixed (if we ever do) we'll stick with the January update. Easy enough to just wait for next map update. We're of the school "don't fix what ain't broke" smile

updating again

If maps you installed before "recall" is working fine then there is no reason to reinstall it. As long as we don't know reason behind "recall" there is no telling if you will have any problem with it. But if suddenly you will experience some unusual behavior from gps or maps routing then you will know, that first thing to try is reinstall newer version of this map.

I installed 2019.10 map

I installed 2019.10 map update when it first came out.... In my 660 and both 2689LMT's.... I've used it a couple time out of town and in each case it has worked flawlessly...
I've been watching this thread since inception.... Expecting to Eventually determine what is the issue.... (Why it 2019.10 was pulled)...
but have not as yet determined what's going on....

We were out of town again for last 2 weeks... and still no apparent answer.....

Did I miss something? Or is it not yet described???
P.S. Just updated to GE 6.2.0.0... Still says 660 needs 2019.10 map, and 2689LMT needs 2019.10 map plus time Zone Update....

and as of this time.... That is... Unless Garmin decides to tell us what the heck is going on..... I'm going to leave everything as it is....... and wait for next map update..... I don't seem to need the Timezone update, as I won't be in NV or Mongolia in the near future (With a GPS.....)
smile!
