Low Battery

My GPS saw low battery, and then screen becomes blank. I don't know where battery is. Then, I may unplug and replug and it will work again. Don't want this to happen when traveeling unfamiliar routes.

Between

Between this and your other post about your phone not charging I'd suggest you have an issue with the USB port and/or the power adapter in your vehicle. It seems a bit strange that both the phone and the GPS would have charging issues. When I have these issues it always seems to require I reseat the cables in both the device and the connector in the vehicle to correct it.

No power

See my post on your other thread. This most likely is the same problem. It must be that the cigar lighter outlet supplying the GPS has no power. It could be a blown fuse.

Possible causes.

Possible causes for this symptom:

1) Defective charging circuit in unit.
2) Failing power adapter.
3) worn or defective USB plug on power adapter.
4) worn out or defective battery.
5) worn or defective USB port in unit (causing loose connection).
6) battery completely discharged (not enough juice to charge and operate unit simultaneously).

I listed these in the order that I consider to be least likely to most likely. The first thing I would try is to plug the unit into a wall charger and let it charge overnight.

If you have the cable

You also should have a cable to be able to charge your Gps to a PC or charge it like you would charge your phone indoor at home. The GPS as internal Battery you will not be able to replace, first you need special tool,if your Gps battery are complety dead you must send your GPS back to Garmin for a battery replacement. Be sure your sigarette lighter port is clean I purchase from Best buy an adapter one side go to the sigarette lighter port and have 3 port I use 1 for charging my phone, one to connect my GPS and one for my radar detector.

Hope it help

That's my thought too

I agree. It could be the vehicle's fuse for the socket or the Garmin power cord's internal fuse in the big plug end of the power cord. Assuming the Garmin's plugged into the vehicle's 'cigarette lighter' socket and the iPhone connected to the vehicle's USB port, if both ports share the same vehicle fuse, one blown vehicle fuse could explain both issues.

I doubt that a nuvi 50 battery would need replacing yet but if so, check YouTube for videos on replacing the battery. Batteryship and NewPower99 offer packages with the battery and needed tools to do the job.

Low Battery

If your battery was "cycled" too many times it wont' hold a charge.

But as CraigW said, you can change it yourself with some know-how and watching some you-tube videos.

change battery is not hard,

change battery is not hard, find the cheap one on ebay.
