10 years with POI Factory

I just saw that I have been a member of the POI Factory for over 10 years now. When I first joined there was no such thing as an iPhone. GPS I had spent a lot on a GPS for cross country trip with my daughter (now 25 years old!) and I was grateful for the POI Factory users for POI files, advice, and stories. In recent years I haven't used the site like I used to but it still keeps me up to date on Garmin news.

I got a Garmin 3597 a few years ago and liked it so much I bought several refurbished models for my family members. I am not sure if Garmin currently has a model as good as this one. Even with the advent of smartphone navigation I still travel everywhere with my Garmin. I take it with me on business trips preloaded with my destinations to install in a rental car. I would hate to travel to a new city without it.

I am not sure what the future of GPS receivers will be but I hope they continue. I was recently in the mountains of Colorado and the GPS worked flawlessly in an area that had no phone service.

Anyway, thanks to the all the administrators and members over the last decade that have kept the POI Factory running. Keep up the good work.

Nine Years

38 weeks for me.
Hope to be at 10 years very shortly.
It's still a great place to learn things.
Thanks to all.
Fred

P.S. Have a 350, 370, & 1350. No NEW stuff for me!!!

Made it to 10

I also like the 3597, I have two. Built-in auto GPS just aren't easy to use. Friends don't use it in their own cars.

I've only been here 7½ years.

A young pup, by comparison.

Congrats! I echo your sentiments - I hope GPS systems are here for a long time to come. Despite advances with smartphones, there are numerous advantages to a separate standalone vehicle GPS system
