GPX file.

When you send the route from BaseCamp to your Drive 60, it is transferred in a file named temp.gpx that you will find in the /gpx folder of your Drive 60. You can copy that file out to your computer, rename it to something like MyGreatRoute.gpx and email it to them as an attachment. They can then copy it into the /GPX folder of their device and it will be imported.

After you create the route,

After you create the route, click on the route, then File> Export Selected User Data. Choose a flash card in the dialog. The person you give it to can Import it to their Basecamp and then upload to their unit.

It may also be possible to connect their GPS to the computer and load the file directly to the GPX directory. How ever I haven't tried this, so maybe someone else can confirm that.

Yes ...

... You can connect any device to your computer and send data from BaseCamp to it.

If...

If your riding friends have Basecamp installed on their Windows XX computers, Just export your Basecamp data to a .gpx file and attach it to an email.

All your friends need to do is click on the attached file and it will automatically open in Basecamp. They can then view the file and export it to their devices. They can also open the file in Google Earth and view it that way.

There are a few things to keep in mind:

Your friends should first clear Basecamp of any files, routes, waypoints etc before clicking on the file attachment. Otherwise, the file will merge with whatever is open on their version of Basecamp.

When doing this for the first time, Windows may ask for the program you wish to use to open the .gpx file. Simply select Basecamp from the dropdown list.

This process works with all versions of Windows and email programs I'm familiar with. It may not work with all platforms though.

Basecamp has a pretty steep learning curve. If your friends aren't comfortable with the basics, Alandb's method may be easier.

File

Of course everyone is assuming that the recipients have BaseCamp or even a GPS, just thinking.

Well ...

The OPs post suggests they do, otherwise what would be the point? But you're right ... we are making that assumption smile
