POI Icons shown on Garmin GPS Map Screen

I am a little confused about, why some Icons are not displayed on my Nuvi 2689. I have observed that in the Category-Custom POI file the 50 closest PIO’s are shown in that list. However, not all of these POI’s that fall within the limits of the map screen along the active route are displayed. An example is an Icon will be shown on the screen when travelling in one direction on an interstate highway, but is not shown when travelling in the opposite direction, even though the icon location falls within the same map screen area for both situations.
I am wondering if there is a setting on the GPS Unit, or in Basecamp or POI Loader, that limits the display of the Icons to within a specific distance from the active route ?

Never seen this

I have never seen this.

When traveling on an interstate, the rest stops (custom POI file) on both sides show up. All imbedded POIs show up as well, such as McDonalds, etc. on both sides, even if they are a ways off the Interstate.

Try...

Try changing the zoom level on your map screen. Sometimes POI's are "covered up" by other map data and are not visible at all times.

Changing the zoom level works on my 1390T.
