660 backlit screen fading....

Used our 660 yesterday... Bright day... In past few months I noticed that the Screen didn't seem as bright as it had been before.....
I'm guessing the backlight panel is fading over time... I see it going slightly red as well, which is another symptom I used to see on screens at work that had lots of hours on them.....

Other than decreasing Brightness, and increasing it again... to verify it's not stuck somewhere.... any other suggestions?

(Other than get another 2689 to match mine... Which has been discussed....) smile!

Thanks.....

Retire your 660

The backlight dimming over time is normal, as it did the same thing on my now-departed HP laptop from 2005. Based upon your symptoms the 660 isn't long for this world. Of course, it can be revived by replacing the screen, but then the question is, do you want to go through that?

My Nuvi 360 has the same issue

The Nuvi 660 is too old so I think time to let it go.

Talk about stretching a life....
This 660 had a scrambled directory, 6 or so years ago, but it still boots and works... (Map Upgrade via SD card)
3 or so years ago the rear interface went dead, and battery charge and Traffic stopped... I got it going by making a USB cable to provide power to run the 660, though nothing brought Traffic back to life.. (I changed the battery before I realized the rear interface was dead... and the rear interface connection looked good...

And now the display.... Yeah, It's time... Just thought I'd ask for confirmation...

just for grins ...

you should run the Windows disk check against the 660 before you throw it in the trash. My bet is that disk check will repair the scrambled directory.
