No Favorites.gpx

My nuvi 200 has a current.gpx, but no favorites.gpx. I don't think this is my favorites because the date of the file is 10/28/2006.

On my Zumo, my favorites are contained in a file called current.gpx. I can copy this to my PC as a backup.

If you have MapSource, you can use it to copy your Favorites to your PC.

Or you can use a third party software like EasyGPS to manage them.

current.gpx

I copied the current.gpx file, reset the GSPr and copied the file back to the GPSr to verify that the favorites are in the current.gpx file. I am not sure why the file was date stamped 2006. At least I know which file to backup.

Hidden workings...

What seems to happen is:

When the unit boots, it looks through the whole filesystem for .gpx files, and then merges their contents with the current list (which is held somewhere inaccessible). It then writes that new list OUT to Current.gpx as a backup. So if you just delete current.gpx and reset the Nüvi, you'd probably see it automagically re-created from the internal list.
(When Mapsource copies Waypoints/Favourites to the unit, it creates \Garmin\gpx\temp.gpx, rather than modifying Current.gpx.)
