Others have reported as well so problem is not unique. When downloading update I get the red icon "There was a problem installing the update." Approx. 1/2 way complete then I get the message. Tried unplugging and restarting with same results?
Any ideas?

Used laptop w/ windows 10
and upload completed with no problems. Having problems with PC using Win 7. All other updates prior to this went fine with PC.

No problems using Win 10, GE 5.1.1 on a 1390T and a 2495LMT. Both downloaded and installed in about 45 min. each.

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!

I had same issue on windows 7...I uninstalled GE and made sure everything was deleted and reinstalled and it worked great downloading the first time

I think GE 5.1.1 recent update had a bug for some people installing it

had problem also but found web link download.garmin.com/imu/garminmapupdater.exe works great no problem

Same Problem
Had the same install problem. Found out that the installation went fine for the gps but somehow did not install to computer. Re-connected to computer and selected computer only and installed fine. Just FYI.
