GTM60 3D cable replacement.

Bad news. Had my Nuvi stolen. Good news, police caught the guy going through another car in the parking lot. Got it back, except for the cable.
Saved a bundle and ordered one from China on 11/28/16. I wonder where it's at? shock Lesson learned.

Bummer

Was it the entire GTM-60 receiver/cable?

Just a heads up. Last year my brother placed an eBay order from a Seller in China for two items, one for him plus one for me. Mine arrived but his didn't. He contacted the Seller through eBay and the Seller found the missing item being delayed (for well over a couple months) in US customs and got it all resolved. It might be worth contacting the Seller.

There are honest Sellers on eBay from China. There are also some less-than-honest ones; e.g., don't be like me and one time order a large capacity SD card at a too-good-to-be-true price. sad

The Future of 3D / HD Traffic ??

Since LIVE traffic through the Smartphone link app is now free, I wonder how long Garmin will continue providing receivers for 3D and HD traffic? Another question is how long will broadcasters continue transmitting traffic data?

Well ......

I can't see traffic broadcasts stopping in the near to medium future. Garmin is only one user, there are many more. Plus of course effectively the same data is being sent over the app.

cable

Yes,entire cable, it even showed an extra cable, for what I don't know. Looks like a stereo plug.
Contacted seller about a week ago. They said it's stuck in Chicago because of the weather. Very nice seller. Offered to send another one with the hope I would pay them back. Not sure what that means but I'll just wait.

Keeping My Figers Crossed For You

He must have shipped on a slow boat from China. smile

Looking at Ebay ads for a Garmin-GTM60-3D-HD-Digital-Traffic-Receiver- I only see ONE seller shipping from China.
That seller is janeh2100 with100255 sales and 99.1% Positive feedbacks.

I don’t know how he is selling the same product for 76 cents more, and listing as new when the ad indicates used.
I don’t like buying from Ebay since it may take too long to deliver and don’t care to return it if it’s defective.
Sometimes it pays to pay more and avoid the aggravation.

I sure hope he comes through for you, and I think he will be expecting the other one back and you must pay the 3.00 return shipping charges.

Advertised as in the ad as USED it Sells for 40.79 plus 3.00 shipping

Advertised as NEW (Other) yet it shows Used in the ad. Sells for 41.55 plus 3.00 shipping

I see there are Used ones shipping from the states less than 40.00 dollars and will include shipping.

39.99 Shipped

31.00 + 6.80 shipping (31.80)

I'm think you will be OK with you purchase but it helps when you read the description so there are no surprises.

MY fault

for not scrolling down. Had an appointment and just didn't read it all. With the weather being so bad ( Reno area ) I'm not going anywhere.
I wonder what the "will give you a AUX antenna for FREE" is? Or what the extra wire is? I think it's just the timing of when the ship leaves more than anything else.

I believe the Auxiliary Antenna is to give you better reception for the FM signals. I don't know if your GTM60 has a receptacle on the antenna block that it would plug into, the other end attaches on your windshield with suction cups and is a molded case containing the receiver. The seller shows it works for several of Nuvi's (including your 2595. I would imagine the GTM60 you ordered has the plug receptacle on the antenna block.

I saw this on Amazon in questions:
"There is a small (2.5mm jack) plug on the traffic receiver block. If you look at the traffic receiver cable, there is a small rectangle towards the middle - on the side is the hole where this plugs in."

Antenna Extemsion

That's interesting, thanks. Not having the cable I can't check it out but if they're giving you one it must have the receptacle.
The FM signal meaning a subscription channel?
At $80 I doubt I would ever buy one.

The ad States "FM Traffic Service With this GMT60 for USE IN USA or Canada ONLY!! In other countries used only as a car charger to use or may purchase the service.

Since you are in the US, no subscription is necessary.
I hope that answers your question.

There I go again

Not reading it all. It's only $10, $80 was with the extras.
Thanks for the info.

Auxiliary FM Antenna

I have one of these and it is arguably questionable unless the way you mount the GPS shields the power cable (GTM60) from receiving the FM signal. The prime FM antenna is within the length of the power cord between the block and the plug. The optional wire has a small plug that looks similar to the ones on earbuds, but smaller. As you referenced, it plugs into a small, often overlooked hole on the side of the block and is intended to be extended along the windshield with the suction cups securing it. I haven't found it to make much difference, but my power cord is pretty much exposed.

Other than major population centers, the HD traffic data is pretty much non existent and those GPS models that can get traffic data via bluetooth from a smartphone app seem to have much better traffic coverage IMO.

I have several GTM cables (GTM25 (US), GTM35(Taiwan), GTM60 (US and Taiwan)) that came with the GPSRs that I acquired in the US and Taiwan. They all have the receptacle for the aux antenna. The Taiwanese GPSRs came with the aux antennas included. As far as I can tell, the aux antenna does not improve the FM signal for the traffic in the SF Bay Area. It might be helpful in rural areas.

Out in the sticks

two roads in and out, 13 miles from a WallMart, it doesn't come into play. LOL
Thanks for the replies.

IT'S HERE !

I'm sure a lot of you were biting your nails in wonder, so..my Chinese cable finally arrived ! Works fine, last long time. It did come with that extra antenna, too.

Great!

I have learned to avoid eBay sellers from China because of the uncertain and long shipping/delivery times ... but when I did buy from a Chinese seller I always eventually got my product and the product was always satisfactory. I now restrict my eBay searches to North America only.

aux antenna

My 3597 is mounted low in a compartment in front of the center console for security reasons. The GTM-60 cord is coiled up and plugged in to the cigar outlet inside. This is bad for traffic reception. I had no signal at my house even though the nearest transmitter is 15 miles away. I ordered the auxiliary antenna. It reaches the top of the dash and I now have a traffic signal everywhere in the area.

dobs108 smile

where

Did you suction cup it to the windshield or just stretch it across the dash ? After mine got ripped off I bring everything in the house. Don't know if the antenna would be a give away.

in the aC vent

I open the compartment, pull out the antenna, and stick the upper end into the AC vent.
