Just came back from Iceland

Just wanted to report that I came back from Iceland yesterday. Took the Garmin 3597 and preloaded it with Iceland maps from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/

Worked perfectly! We were able to get around everywhere and every POI we needed from attractions to grocery stores was on the map data.

The weather wasn't great the whole time since it's winter. Didn't get to see the northern lights sad But we went to the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle, and visited Akureyri in the north and lake Myvatn. I highly recommend visiting Iceland! It was amazing!

Thanks for your comments!

I discovered something new!

Do you know how the quality of these free databases are?

I hope you didn't go out of your way

Been There a Few Years Ago

Visited Iceland a few years ago.
It was a very good trip. We did encounter a volcano beginning to erupt & it limited travel in the near area, but overall it was great.
The winters are very dark, cold & most people congregate in the two western cities. Kids stay at boarding schools.
I have a friend who is originally from Iceland but married here & stayed. He says it's a lot more livable.

"Better info in, better results out"

Sounds cool.

I'd love to go there some day.

Iceland is another place we would like to go someday

After seeing the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" we want to see Iceland. I have looked up when it is the warmest. I am not a cold area person but I could go there just to see the beauty of Iceland.

Maybe that is a place we could go instead of the dangerous ones we are looking at.
