Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – July 2016

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Quick trip

Did a quick 1800 mile round trip starting Wednesday after work from western PA to the farside of Minneapolis and back. Brought home my daughter and new grand baby for a visit and vacation trip to the beach in a few days.

The zumo 665 as always performed great. I usually just use GO TO a point for most trips but used a route for this trip to navigate the bypasses around Chicago. The XM weather let me see that I was shooting the gap between bad rain clouds on the 1st day but let me know there was no way to avoid it on the second day. It was right, yellows and reds on the screen are bad on the ground! LOL

Alaska

Just back from Alaska. 6 day land tour. Saw Denali. Only 30% of people who visit actually see the mountain as it is almost always hidden by clouds. People in our group were there for the 5th time and this was the first time they had ever seen the mountain. Very cool. smile

Leisurely ride through Simcoe County

Took the old Nuvi 255 on the RoadGlide for a leisurely ride through Simcoe County, Ontario

Orlando / Tampa / Daytona

This was the trip where I discovered how much better google maps works on the galaxy smartphone, over the 2350LMT. What I like most about google is pressing the button for say car (you'd change it if walking), and then getting a birds eye view of traffic over multiple routes.

Meaning, you know before you leave, which route at that time was congested, and which was clear. It's astounding to think how much time this saves on a regular commute (mine is 28 miles and can take 90 min.)

local trips

Have a new 2699 so I'm using it for all trips to learn and adjust to this new device.

but probably never will. My son has a Wisconsin Badgers hockey jersey that he wore in a pic, holding goalie and regular sticks, when he was about 23 mos. old. Man, he's 31 mos. now, and I wish we could go back to 12. They grow up too fast...

Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. About 200 miles from St. Louis. If you're a Veteran, use the Veteran's Discount. Save $12.00 a day per person. Free drinks all day, free parking, free sunscreen. All in all a good deal. Toured Lincoln's boyhood home and Lincoln National Park on the third day.
