Are POI Factory Files Usable On A 2015 Ford In-Dash GPS?

As the Subject line says - can this be done?

We just got a 2015 Ford Flex with factory-installed GPS for my wife. We had no need for the factory GPS, as my TomTom does everything I want, but the only way to get some other features that my wife demanded was to get a "package" that included the GPS.

Since it is in the car anyway, I would like to maximize its utility, but I have yet to find any documentation that tells me how I can install third-party POI files on the unit. Does anyone know definitely if this can be done, or if cannot be done?

If it turns out that it IS possible, does anyone have a link to clear instructions on how to install files from sources like POI Factory?

i would say

I would say your chances are slim to none with Slim already having bags packed and loaded on the plane already taxing on the runway heading out of town. Blame Ford's lawyers as they are concerned about liability from anything "foreign" being introduced into their systems.

Two sources for confirmation would be the Owner Manual that is supposed to come with the car and the sales rep responsible for the sale.

Most likely not

Our only experience is with the Mopar system in our 2005 Jeep, good for an over view but that's it. Updates at one time were a new CD @ $500. I think that changed later.
Looking at a Promaster van, it comes with a Tom Tom based nav system. Don't expect it will be worth much more then an over view.

I Agree

I agree it doesn't look good for POI loading. I suspect the GPS system in your 2015 Ford vehicle is the MyFord Touch system which is being replaced by Sync 3 in 2016 Ford vehicles. There is an available manual for the MyFord Touch system which can be downloaded. Just Google "myford touch manual pdf".

On a jeep vehicle you can add Redlight cameras and other Custom POIs. It is a Garmin unit.

like other things..

This is a revenue stream for the dealership/car company and was added to the car for this purpose.

I was surprised recently when my son bought a 2016 Jeep Rubicon. He got the Hardrock Edition with everything, everything, everything. Sheesh... Must be nice. It has a Garmin branded GPS unit in the dash.

My wife's car has a GPS in the dash but it's a Ford. Not much you can add to it.

GPSMAP 76CSx - nüvi 760 - nüvi 200 - GPSMAP 78S

Kenwood

I was wondering the same for Kenwood head units. I believe the service port is removed so not sure how one could acquire the POI's. I currently have a Pioneer but was thinking of switching to Kenwwod at one point.
