Garmin Smartphone Link IOS app new update 2.1.0

I used to get notifications on my iPhone 5S when an updated app is available but for some reason, that no longer happens.

The Android app also updated to v2.1.

The changelog refers to adding the zumo 595LM and bug fixes to improve the app.

Installed without any issue this morning on my iPhone 6

The Garmin Smartlink is about one of the most useless apps I have.

I own a NuviCam and an iPhone 6s Plus. Every time the stupid app pairs with the NuviCam, it loses connection within a minute (and, often, within seconds). The ratings for this app on iTunes are horrid, and the primary reason is the one I just gave -- the app cannot maintain a connection between the iPhone and the Garmin unit.

Android users don't seem to have the problem, at least to the degree iPhone users do. But anytime you want to confirm this bug with iPhone, just head over to the iTunes download site for the app and read the reviews. People are practically begging Garmin to fix the connection between the phone and the Garmin so that it is reliable and retains a connection.

Just FYI, in my own experience from today, this version of the app does not seem to have addressed the issue for iOS users.

New Update for IOS 9.3 include several update I phone Ipad,music-new note and health-add also a new feature called NIGHT SHIFT by shifting display mode according to your color mode display and clock time,additional improvement in password protection,photo,map improvement,car play improvement,Safari,and many more.

I have Smart Link version 2.1.0
Although it easily connects to my BMW Navigator V, I rarely use the app.
What am I missing out on with regards to the Smart Link?
I use my iPhone 6s to get weather info, search with Google or use other travel apps.

I see two benefits to the Garmin Smartphone Link (with added premium weather and traffic): 1) the GPS will automatically alert to upcoming weather issues on your route; and 2) the traffic offered by Smartphone Link app is also automatically displayed if on your route and at least compared to Garmin devices' other traffic options, is far superior to them.

My experience is only with the app as displayed on Garmin nuvi devices. I don't know if it applies to your built in Navigator V.

And today it's up to v2.1.1.

The changelog hasn't changed from 2.1.0 so there must have been one or more extra bug fixes to result in such a quick update.

Log into the App store and on the bottom right hand side there will be an update icon that will show you all the updates that are pending for the apps that you have installed on your phone.

You then have a choice of updating all the apps or each one individually.

New version works flawlessly with my setup. Used it for several one hour plus trips after update and it stayed connected and provided pretty accurate traffic info. I know it could be better but the traffic is much better than the HD traffic that comes with the unit.

I recently started using the 2599lmt. I installed smartlink to supplement the nuvi.

So far, I can't see what the the basic version offers in value to me. "Last Mile" and "Recent" doesn't have historical information. Is this normal?

No, it does not look normal. "Last Mile" on my app shows my car's parking location and "Recent" shows the places I searched and visited.

The current version of Garmin Smartphone Link is 2.9.8 as of 2020. I haven't seen any recent update and I haven't experienced any issues using it on my iPhone and Garmin 595LM.
