Confirmed by the 911 Raleigh County mapping department. It is the site where the very first fire tower to go up in the state of WV in 1916. Confirmed by the National Historic Lookout Register.The steel tower standing today was built in 1924 by Emory "Pop" Wriston the register also states. "Pop" Wriston also said Sil Coon built the first wooden tower. The tower standing today is the second oldest still standing & is a LS40 aermotor. It is 56 feet tall to the top.
