3597 a& SmartPhone Link

I'm not sure when it happened, but now, when my SmartPhone Link pairs with my 3597 and I get a call on my SmartPhone, the garmin automatically answers it. Then, even with a headset in the phone, when I make a call using the SmartPhone, it is again transfered to the Garmin.

I've tried and tried and tried to stop this behaviour.

When I use my phone I don't want the 3597 to intercept the call.

Anyone else hit this issue and know how to make it stop?..

Thanks in advance

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

On my 2597, on the menu

On my 2597, on the menu screen, touch the Dandelion looking icon for the Smart Link. On the next screen, touch the phone, then uncheck the calls checkbox. My GPS in out in the truck in a foot of snow, so I can't be more specific. Also, this has to be checked every time you pair.

On my 3597

I found it under Apps > Smartphone Link > [device name]
Uncheck Hands-Free Calling
As I recall, it's on by default and I think anytime the app gets updated on your phone it might revert to that setting.

No, I have not noticed such

No, I have not noticed such behavior on mine. May be un pair it and then re pair it see if it makes any difference.

That's the way mine always behaves.

And this is how I stopped the hand-free calling when I want to.

Update

Update. Touch the SmartLink Icon, Touch the Phone. Uncheck Hands Free calling. Also, as the other poster noted, under Apps, SmartLink, Choose the phone and uncheck Hands Free.

Unfortunately, you cannot

Unfortunately, you cannot disable it by default. I have noticed a bug. Even when you uncheck hands free calling, it gets enabled sometimes on its own.

You are lucky that you can disable it, in NUVICAM you cannot disable it. If you disable hands free calling, next time when you start Nuvicam, it does not pair with iphone. Garmin still has not done anything to fix it.

The best thing Garmin can

The best thing Garmin can do, is stop making the GPS pair with the phone, as a phone. Most new cars today offer hands free phone, etc, and when you have more than one device trying to connect as a phone, problems occur.

Hello, Garmin. Please stop pairing with the phone as a phone. There are many more devices that do a much better job at being a phone.

Smartphone link app always answers phone

I have had this issue on my 3597 too. As I was reading your question it occurred to me that maybe the issue is on the phone side. The phone may be requiring a phone connection with the 3597 when it connects via bluetooth. On my Android phone I went into the bluetooth settings and sure enough the box that enables "call audio" was checked. I unchecked it. On the 3597 I went into the Smartphone Link app and unchecked the handsfree calling option.

To create a fresh start. I rebooted the phone and turned on the bluetooth. I rebooted the 3597, it connected to the phone and the handsfree box was still unchecked. The Smartphone Link app connected to the phone and I was able to send a location to the 3597, get the weather, etc. I called my Android from another device and the call did not go through the 3597... Yay! I think at least for me, the problems is solved. Hope it works for you.

Bill

Thanks
