Revisiting a 660 that sat for ~6 months

About 3 years ago we realized the 660 directory structure was corrupt, preventing any backup. 660 still worked, so we continued on without backup capability.
About a year or so ago, the power/traffic interface on the rear of the 660 died. I first thought it was battery. Changed Battery.. No, it's the interface that died..
Darn!
Next I spent time determining what pinout is needed to power 660 via USB port without it going into terminal mode, as newer units do.. (That post is here, somewhere)....
Success!! 660 back among the living!
Updated (Lower 48) maps as they came out (on SD Card), per alanb, who I give credit to with every map update.. The 660 limps, but the 660 apparently doesn't know it's directory structure and interface is bad, so it works fine anyhow!

2 days ago, the 660 was being pressed back in service for a friend.
Battery is fully charged, even after sitting in car for 6 months!
I had kept another folder with 660 style POI's (MP3 Audio) Updated them with current POI Favorites, and downloaded to 660.

Added destination(s) that friend will need for trip...and showed him how to mount/connect it up and recall favorites...

And Off He went yesterday! Call this morning that all working fine, and he couldn't be happier!

Another Success Story!

Congrats

Glad to hear you managed to revive your 660. It's always fun when you are successful tinkering.
The 660 was/is a great GPS, first one I bought. Still have and use mine for work with outdated maps and a dead battery.
