This is an alternate to Red Light cams. Bright Blue lights that are placed above the traffic light and are bright blue for 360° when that light is Red. Don't need a camera, but you do need a police officer there to see it.

another alternative

Increase the length of yellows to reduce accidents. But that costs nothing and makes nothing either. It is not about safety, it is about $$$,$$$,$$$.

In FL

I saw these in Florida (Orlando area I think) a few years ago and didn't know at the time what they were for. I had to look it up when I got home from the trip.
