Garmin Backup camera system questions...

HI Guys!

Still on the fence about my next GPS system purchase.

I do have some questions for you all...

1.) the camera system. Can I get by with the 20?
Does the 30 have features that I might need over the 20?
I mean, I don't think I will want to add more into the same system.

2.) Is there any "Lag time" in the camera system?
I don't want to have any delay issues tween real time and when it gets displayed on the screen. I don't want to watch anything get run over, after it happens...

3.) Do any of you have this type of system already installed?
What are your opinions? Regrets? Do overs????

My Experience

1 - You can get by with the BC-20 if you have no use for the multiple camera input feature of the BC-30. That is the biggest advantage of the 30 over the 20.

2 - There is no noticeable lag, the camera displays in "real time".

3 - I have the BC-20 installed on my pickup. It was easy to install and works flawlessly. The wireless camera image is not quite as clear as wired systems sometimes due to external RF interference but it isn't really an issue.

I may switch to the BC-30 in the future so I can use two cameras to monitor the rear of both my trailer and pickup at the same time.

I recommend getting a compatible GPS unit with a 7" screen if you drive a larger vehicle.

Hope this helps.

BC cameras

The BC 20 and BC 30 cameras have incompatible means of connection to different models of Garmin gps. I have a RV760 and it is not compatable with the BC 30 camera system. This really bums me out because all of the newer gps use the BC 30. So now if I upgrade to a newer gps I have to spend more money and install the new camera system if I want a backup camera.

BC-20

I installed the BC20 on the rear of my fifth wheel, works very well with my RV760. Have not noticed any time lag, my wife's screams and her arms waving seem simultaneous.

I backed into a car recently, and I asked the driver why did they not honk when it was clear to them that there was gonna be a real issue.

She said she was too busy waving and screaming... LOL!

Could it have been anyone you know? LOL!

Happy Turkey Day Y'All!!!!
