Camper 760 and Ecoroute HD

Hi Guys,

I have a Garmin Camper 760 and an Ecoroute HD.

I can't find the menu option on the Camper 760 to link it to the Ecoroute.

Am I being dumb, or are these two not compatible?

Looking forward to your advice.

Regards,

Paul

I don't think the RV 760 is

Ecoroute HD.

I think that is incorrect Phranc ... at least the Ecoroute HD is listed as an available accessory here: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-road/rv/rv-760lmt/pro.... It is also shown on the Camper 760LMT-D listing on the UK site, so I think it is supported by this device. The RV 760 is also listed as a compatible device for Ecoroute HD on this page: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod38354.html

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for the OP though.

Edit: Just looked in the RV-760 user Guide and it is covered on page 11-12. It says it is under Apps > Ecoroute.

I think this link will help in determining compatibility and setting up a profile.

Bluetooth

Do you have Bluetooth turned on, on the 760? I believe the ecoroute unit communicates via Bluetooth and ecoroute options won't show up without it being paired. That's how it works on my 3490 and Bluetooth is an option that needs to be switched on.

Thanks for the suggestion,

I've turned Bluetooth on and off , but no ecoroute option appears in Apps.

Paul

???

This may be a silly suggestion, but your car needs to be running (or at least have the ignition on) for the ecoroute unit to have power and be able to communicate with the GPS.
Actually I just went out to my car and removed the GPS. The ecoroute option is still there in the apps menu even without the ecoroute connected, but the icon looks a little different. Perhaps your GPS is not compatible ???? Try a different GPS if you can, maybe a friends' or neighbors' or give support a ring. Also is your camper 760 firmware up to date?

No Ecoroute App Initially

When I first purchased my camper 760 (RV 760) last year, Ecoroute was not available on the apps menu. After doing a firmware update, Ecoroute showed up on the menu and I was able to pair the two units.

As reester suggests, make sure your firmware is current.

Another silly suggestion.

I don't mean to state the obvious, but did you scroll the Apps menu? On the 3597, there are additional apps on the second page.

I'm guessing Garmin Express is used to update the firmware, if so I am up to date.

I have found on Garmin's FAQ page that the ecoroute App isdescribed as an option which can be purchased or is supplied free with certain Sat Navs (of which the camper is one) so I have asked Support how I get it.

I'll let you know what response I get (in three days it said).

Another Silly Suggestion "NOT"

No suggestions are silly Alan, when you're trying to solve a problem like this you have to check everything.

I do also have a second page, but I've been there and the app isn't.

Thanks,

Paul

According to Garmin, Webupdater is used to install Ecoroute, not Garmin Express. This could be an old link but it might be worth a try:

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/shop-by-accessories/ecoroute...

Click on the "Install" tab.

You can get Webupdater here:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99...

I routinely use Webupdater rather than Garmin Express. Webupdater has proven itself to be far less problematic for me.

Garmin Mechanic?

I have had a response from Garmin, which hopefully is incorrect, they said:-

The Garmin Mechanic mobile application is for Android smartphones only and this can be downloaded for free from your Play Store.

I will try and explain to them what I mean.

Paul

Garmin Mechanic is an App..

that lets the Ecoroute device pair with an Android smartphone via Bluetooth.

Unless something has changed in the year since I bought my 760, you should be able to pair your Camper 760 with the Ecoroute HD device without using a smartphone. It works perfectly for me. I believe Garmin misunderstood your question.

Try using Webupdater to update your firmware instead of Garmin Express. You can get it here:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99...

Also, make sure your vehicle is compatible with Ecoroute. A list of uncompatible vehicles is available here:

http://www8.garmin.com/services/ecoroute/incompatible.html

Click on the "Short List" link.

Good luck!

Good luck with support. Meanwhile...

Following the first link bdhsfz6 provided in an earlier post and clicking on the install tab, it does look like webupdater may be the only way to install the necessary software to get ecoroute to work on your RV760. Perhaps Garmin Express is not designed to install the additional software to enable that feature.
