North Miami mayor removes red-light cameras from city

"North Miami Mayor Smith Joseph is removing red-light cameras from all intersections throughout the city.

"You elected me to look out for the best interests of the city, as well as the best interests of the residents," Smith said in a statement Monday. "We cannot balance the city's budget on the backs of our residents. We need more police on the streets, not more red-light cameras. This is a new day in North Miami."

No more red-light camera citations will be issued in the city beginning Thursday." [Note: That's Thursday, October 3, 2015]

Good

I'm glad they are being removed. Hopefully, more cities will also do this.

so overly dramatic

when they want to be reelected. Our state rep down in DC opposed hands free driving.

The thing is, from my experience, when rlcs have been around, and they are removed, people still stop. So, it's not a bad thing. They performed as designed.

RLCS Revoval

Yep, they still work here also.

So do the red light cameras. Wish they were gone in Orange Park and Green Cove Springs, Fl. And everywhere.

Delivery truck slows almost to a stop while making a left when almost through and Peg gets a ticket. She was hung out in the intersection because of this. But, you either are pregnant or you're not.
