Need source for USB Mini Male cable with ALL PINS wired

New to POI-F. Old to building prototype electronics. I can't seem to find a USB cable where I can hack off an end and use the molded male end w/cable so I can embed pins X to 5 resistor. Seems like manufacturers are in denial about Pin 4/X. I've built 2 of these cables for my off-road vehicles. Now, I can't find new ones.Ideas anyone?

My Montana 650 resistor between pin-X and pin-5 test results. Each test was conducted with the 650 battery being less than 50%. The current measurements used an AboveTEK® USB Voltage Current Multimeter.

Resistor value / GPS function / outcome
0 / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
2k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
7k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA / started in diagnostics one of 10 times
10k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
13.5k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
15k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
17k / 500mA / Nav inconsistent
20k / 500mA / No Nav
25k / Error / “WRONG ADAPTER”
30k / Error / “WRONG ADAPTER”
33k / 1A + Nav draw 900mA
37k / 500mA + Nav draw 500mA / (500mA inadequate, 600mA required to avoid battery discharge)
42k / 500mA + Nav draw 500mA / (500mA inadequate, 600mA required to avoid battery discharge)
45k / 500mA + Nav draw 500mA / (500mA inadequate, 600mA required to avoid battery discharge)

Try eBay

tons of them on eBay:

Almost any computer store, maybe even Walmart, Tiger Direct and whatever RadioCrap is called now, should have them.

Always a risk

Thx Melaqueman. I have tried 7 different sources that "CLAIM" to be 5-wire plus shield. Typically, it's pins 1-2-3-5-Shield and never wire pin-4/x.

Another Possibility

I’m not sure what pin 4 is used for on the Montana 650.

Rather than cobble a USB cable, I use this Garmin mount to hard wire my Montana 650T for off road vehicle use:

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/shop-by-accessories/mounts/a...

When snapped into this mount, the 650 uses the 6 pins on the side of the case for the power, data and audio functions and bypasses the USB mini connector. The mount also provides easy installation and removal of the 650 without fumbling with the USB connector.

The pin out connections for the mount are available here:

Rugged Mount

Thanks bdhsfz6.
I tried one of these mounts last year. In my Polaris Ranger (side-by-side) there's no place to hide from the rain. I shorted out the mount 5 times in a day and was carrying a handful of fuses in my pocket. By using the USB-mini port, I am able to use a renewable putty to stop any rain penetration. This has worked great for 8 years on my Nuvi 500's and now on Montana 650.

I could probably use the rugged mount if I installed a windshield.... but what fun is that?
