windows 10 poi download

I just updated to win 10 & tried to download poi files to my normal Garmin folder, but it only lets you download to the download file & you can not move it to the Garmin file. There is no right click to save as to a file. What am I missing ? Thanks

Windows 10 POI

I installed Windows 10, ran it for 8 hours with approximately five crushes and reinstalled my old Windows 7, all is good now.

Just use the POI loader program pointing it to the Download Folder as a source and run it twice, send one POI file to the GPS and a second POI file to the Garmin Folder.

POI loader

Thanks I'll try it. So far everything else on win 10 is better than win 8.

Ah

Ah, another issue Microsoft will hopefully work on.

I'm guessing you're using the new Edge browser. I've checked and don't see any way to choose or change the folder for downloads.

What I suggest doing is to use Windows 10's Internet Explorer rather than Edge—or another browser like Chrome when you plan to download files and want the files to go to a folder other than Downloads.

As much as I like Edge, I'm currently not using it since it can't use extensions or add-ons and now you've added another reason, a fixed download folder. I'm using Chrome as my default browser for now.

A trick I seen on the web.

1.Click the folder icon located at the bottom left of your screen Toolbar area.
2.Once next screen comes up right click on download folder and select properties.
4.Now click on location.
5.This will be the location to change download location to another place on the drive. You will see the default is now set to downloads.

Still needs to be like other browsers to select a desired location each time. Would think a change would be coming soon.

Interesting, I never would have found that on my own. Another related issue is that the file name being downloaded cannot be changed. Not too big an issue but if you're downloading an updated poi file that's already there, the new one will be xxxx(1).csv where the 1 can create a few custom POI issues.

I do hope Edge is a work-in-progress that will be updated soon as I really would like to try it as my default browser.

Firefox for now.

Intersting comparison http://www.itpro.co.uk/web-browsers/25068/internet-explorer-.... For now will stay with Firefox. One big draw back to me with either one is no ability to sync with Android.Firefox and Dophin Connect does the job across all my Android tablets and phone.Have done feedback to Microsoft on that issue.

win 10

internet explorer is still there in win 10 edge is set as the default browser I sometimes switch back and forth getting the favorites bar set up in edge was tricky. I also use startisback for win 10 (boots straight into the desk top like win 7)! another thing I didn't like was having to sign in every time I start the computer, so now when it boots up its straight into the desktop (I'm t6he only one that uses this computer)
windows 10 really seems a lot faster system !and as I poke around I find more tweeks to make it better for me (like making the mouse pointer larger and black, text a little larger) the eyes aint what they used to be . lol
