German Automakers looking to acquire HERE Maps

If HERE were to be acquired by one of their major clients, I wonder if Garmin would continue to remain a major client? I am curious about this because the automakers' motive for acquiring HERE is not to latch onto HERE's current customer base (like Garmin), but simply to have exclusive rights to HERE's high-definition maps to assist in further development of an autopilot feature on luxury vehicles.

If so what happens when the satellites get off and make it look like you are off road? Will the car go off road thinking it is getting back on the road?
